As NWA and TNA wres- tling champion, he never backed down from competition, earning respect and the moniker “the Phenomenal One”. Be- fore his departure to the land of purore- su, he adopted a darker personality and style in the LoneWolf storyline, winning the TNA title and leaving the company with the title after a contract dispute with TNA President Dixie Carter. When Hannibal ran his mouth about “crippling AJ” in May, the Georgia native

Can the Hawks get their mojo back?
Finally, Zach Car was traded to Ottawa with Faucher last April. While a breath of fresh air is always welcome after a less than stellar season, the Hawks’ young wolves and newcomers will have to step up to the plate to bring some much needed Ws for the historic 40th season of the franchise. “The June camp gave us the opportunity to mix up our prospects and returning veterans in a playing environment,” said coach Anderson. We only have about six to eight spots avai- lable on the team for the upcoming season and about 95% of the roster will be decided come August. There are always some surprises or some guys that aren’t there yet and explode later, but we already have a good idea of where we are going.” Preseason camp and games start in August and opening night is August 30 in Ottawa against the Lasers.

SAINT-LAZARE | Last month, the Hawkes- bury Hawks held a two-day camp in Saint-Lazare not only to gauge the ruth- less aggression of the rookies and pros- pects (age 1994-1997), but also construct a team that will have leadership and competitiveness on the ice. Following the departure of captain Carl Faucher, the Hawks’ organization is looking for a renewed attitude on the ice and team spirit. “When you finish in last place (last season) and when you really rely on leadership to work with some of the younger guys, it becomes a major concern for us,” said Hawks’ head coach, Shawn Anderson. “The letter C is representa- tive of the captain but it takes leadership in the room and we were hurt by that last year. With a player like Hunter Racine available, in our minds, there is no question that we are willing to make a change. You know, sometimes, you trade two equal players to different teams to give a new and fresh start. That’s what we did with Carl Faucher.” Top 4 scorers gone Faucher was the Hawks’top scorer last season with 29 goals and 34 assists in 62 games. The second leader on the chart, Yanik Laliberté, is also off the team because of the League’s age limit and so is top scorer #4, Francis Landers.
