The 2025 award is for everyone at Bridgeway
Bridgeway Consulting began 30 years ago with a clear vision: to deliver exceptional rail and infrastructure engineering services, while fostering a culture where everyone has the chance to thrive. From its early days, Bridgeway recognised that, although talent was everywhere, opportunity was not – and took on the mission to change that. This culture of opportunity has guided the company’s growth and ultimately led to the profound honour of receiving the 2025 King’s Enterprise Award for Promoting Opportunity. Growth and opportunity Now employing over 500 people across the UK, Bridgeway has grown into a leading rail and civil engineering firm, providing a comprehensive suite of services. From its origins in underwater surveying, to its expansion into access management services (including isolations, possessions and signalling and telecommunications), infrastructure engineering services through geomatics, site and ground investigations and engineering safety consultancy, Bridgeway has grown to become a well-respected rail infrastructure-focused business where innovative solutions to bespoke problems are part of the vision: the (3E)S 3 – Exceeding Expectations Everywhere Safely, Socially and Sustainably. Delivering across such a wide portfolio of services, and on key long-term infrastructure projects, such as Thameslink, Crossrail and TransPennine, have afforded Bridgeway the scope to provide multiple pathways and programmes of opportunity for individuals at all stages of their career, including apprenticeships, bootcamps, an engineering academy and degree sponsorship.
Broadening Bridgeway In 2020, the Board of Directors created ‘Broadening Bridgeway’, a programme to support those facing barriers to employment, allowing them to access the available opportunities created. This includes working directly with prisons, charities and community partners to help people from all walks of life, whether they are ex-offenders, military veterans, long-term unemployed or individuals from low-income backgrounds, to find a way into permanent, lasting careers. Jacob, an apprentice who joined under Broadening Bridgeway, says, “Since doing my apprenticeship with Bridgeway the job has opened many doors. I went from a stretch of about five to six months being unemployed to having the longest job I have ever had. “The apprenticeship really felt like my last chance to have a career, and I never thought I would be working on the railway, with my previous career being a butcher. I have gone from an apprentice to PICOP/planner and would never look back.” A level playing field Bridgeway’s history of delivering excellence goes hand-in-hand with the company’s deep commitment to building bridges to opportunity, fostering a more equitable and prosperous future for everyone. This prestigious award is a wonderful recognition of that enduring commitment and cements the team’s recently updated vision: (3E)S 3 - Exceeding Expectations Everywhere, Safely, Socially and Sustainably. Pino De Rosa, Managing Director and Founding Partner, says, “Winning the King’s Enterprise Award
for Promoting Opportunity is a fantastic validation of our journey and our on-going efforts to create a level playing field and empower individuals from all walks of life. “Our approach to address the challenges of social mobility is something we’re incredibly proud of. It reflects my own personal journey, and I hope we can inspire others. This award is for everyone at Bridgeway – the mentors who give their time, the managers and recruitment teams who champion inclusive hiring, and the many individuals with lived experience who help deliver our programmes and bring real insight and compassion into everything we do.” “Winning the King’s Award is a fantastic validation of our journey and our on-going efforts to create a level playing field and empower individuals from all walks of life”
