company ensures its mission is co-owned and co- delivered by the very people it serves. Its vibrant range of organic teas, often featured in innovative gifting formats, continues to delight customers worldwide while reinforcing a bigger story of sustainability. English Tea Shop is humbled to be recognised once again with the King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development – a significant honour that acknowledges its work. Suranga Herath, CEO of English Tea Shop, says, “We are delighted to have won the King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development for the second time – it’s a recognition of our entire value chain from our incredible farming communities to our global partners.” Transforming livelihoods The company’s commitment to community-led impact is reflected in its long-standing partnerships with nearly 3,000 small-scale farmers across Sri Lanka. As part of its organic journey, these farmers benefit from support that extends well beyond commerce, including access to Fairtrade and organic certifications, training in climate-smart agriculture, and essential resources to enhance their livelihoods. Recent projects, such as a beekeeping initiative aimed at boosting biodiversity, also examine the broader ecological benefits of organic farming. An empowered Prajãva In 2015, English Tea Shop introduced Open Book Management, creating a transparent and inclusive culture that has grown into a 30% employee- “We are delighted to have won the King’s Award for the second time – it’s a recognition of our entire value chain from our incredible farming communities to our global partners”

An award-winning, B Corp-certified organic tea company, English Tea Shop (UK) Ltd has spent over a decade redefining what it means to sip tea with purpose. Established in 2010, the brand is now present in over 60 countries, delivering exceptional, sustainably sourced teas that reflect its deep-rooted commitment to people and the planet. From the very beginning, English Tea Shop broke away from industry norms by forging direct relationships with small-scale farmers, bypassing the traditional auction system. This bold move stemmed from a deep belief that true sustainability must begin at the source – by empowering producers and ensuring they are fairly rewarded. Guided by its Prajāva (community) philosophy and rooted in the principles of Creating Shared Value, the company has built a transparent and traceable supply chain that not only uplifts farming communities but also drives lasting social and environmental transformation. Community-first approach In line with its Prajāva philosophy – a deeply embedded, community-first approach – English Tea Shop views every stakeholder as integral to delivering meaningful impact. Whether through regenerative farming practices, farmer education, employee ownership, or biodiversity initiatives, the

owned business, with 77% of its 300-strong team holding shares. It’s Prajāva Wellbeing Programme, launched in 2022, takes a holistic approach to employee wellbeing. Under its education pillar, the brand partnered with the Centre for Child Rights and Business to launch Sri Lanka’s first Parent & Child Benefit Programme, providing monthly support to the children of employees. Today, this benefit extends to 175 children of employees and 25 children of farmers. The company’s impact stretches to its global customer base, encouraging informed and ethical consumption. Every cup of tea represents a broader mission: to build a more sustainable and equitable world while bringing love and prosperity through community.
