Brigade Electronics Group Plc
Winning the King’s Award for Enterprise in 2024 marked a major milestone in Brigade Electronics’ journey. For nearly 50 years, we have worked to make commercial vehicles safer and move closer to Vision Zero’s goal of eliminating traffic-related deaths and injuries. Achieving the award for a second time reflects our ongoing commitment to making roads and worksites safer. Our story began with one man’s vision; Chris Hanson-Abbott, OBE, imagined a world with fewer collisions and safer vehicles. His passion and determination laid the foundation for Brigade Electronics. Today, we are a globally renowned leader in commercial vehicle safety technology. This prestigious award celebrates our success and gives us a platform to share our mission of saving lives on and off the road. A Moment to Celebrate The King’s Award presentation was a proud moment for everyone at Brigade. We welcomed the Lord-Lieutenant, Lady Colgrain, who presented us with the award. It was a chance to reflect on our achievements and recognise the dedication driving us forward. Celebrating together as a team reminded us of how far we’ve come.

Resilience and Growth Looking back on 2024, it was a year of stability, with consistent sales growth compared to the previous year. Our strength lies in our global reach and ability to adapt to change. One of our most remarkable achievements was in the UK, where sales soared by 44%. This was driven partly by London’s Direct Vision Standard. Winning the King’s Award also played a key role - it raised our profile and reassured customers that Brigade is always ready to deliver innovative safety solutions. Looking Ahead The King’s Award is more than recognition of our past success. It has reinforced our drive to keep
Building Heroes Education Foundation
Building Heroes, a multi-award-winning charity recognised by the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in support of social mobility, remains a cornerstone in aiding the transition of military personnel to civilian careers, particularly within the construction industry. As we mark our 11th year, we continue to address a critical issue: military veterans are more than twice as likely to be unemployed as their civilian counterparts due to the challenges of reintegrating after military service. Annually, approximately 15,000 men and women leave the Armed Forces, with many facing the daunting prospect of entering civilian life without a clear plan. Some retire after full careers, while others are early service leavers or are medically discharged with physical or mental health injuries. This transition period can be fraught with uncertainty. Building Heroes was founded in 2014 to bridge the gap between military service and civilian employment, starting in one centre offering an intensive property maintenance training. The construction industry, suffering from a chronic skilled worker shortage, presents a natural fit for veterans who possess highly valued personal attributes, and a range of transferable skills easily adapted to this sector. Now operating across 10 dedicated Academies
in England, Building Heroes has successfully graduated over 3,600 military community learners, with qualifications in construction, street works, and retrofit. Almost 50% of all graduates have transitioned into new career pathways within the construction industry, demonstrating the impact of the training provided. Christopher Charles, Chief Executive, proudly states, “Our mission is to ensure no service leaver is left behind as we
provide the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to succeed in the construction industry.” As Building Heroes looks to the future, it remains dedicated to its mission of transforming lives. The charity’s ongoing success is a testament to its impactful work: once a Building Hero, always a Building Hero.
