The King's Awards for Enterprise Magazine 2025

Heraeus Electro-Nite UK

Heraeus Electro-Nite (HEN) UK is proud to be awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, a recognition of its pioneering work in steelmaking measurement technology. This honour celebrates the development of CoreTemp, a breakthrough man-less, on-demand temperature measurement system for electric arc furnaces. Using a patented fibre optic technique, CoreTemp enables accurate, mid-process temperature measurements without interrupting production, dramatically improving efficiency and safety in steelmaking operations worldwide. The 2025 Innovation award follows HEN UK’s 2024 success in securing the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade for its CasTemp technology, which offers continuous temperature measurement during the continuous casting of steel. Together, CasTemp and CoreTemp are transforming the global steel making process, significantly reducing energy waste and playing a critical role in efforts to lower carbon emissions. HEN UK’s Managing Director is Mark Lee who, for 22 years, has made investment in people, technology and manufacturing the core of the company’s success. It operates a world-class facility, has doubled its workforce to 80, and grown exports from less than 13% to over 73% of sales. Lee says, “To receive the King’s Award for
