‘Construction occupational health - standing still, improving or more to do?’ was the question posed at the BuildHealth Annual Conference 2025, held in the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim on June 19. The packed conference was opened by BuildHealth Chair Sasha Byrne, who delivered the keynote speech before handing over to Health and Safety Inspector Laura Hughes for a HSENI viewpoint. This presentation was a follow-up to the HSENI Occupational Health Conference held in April and informed the audience of the latest local facts and figures on occupational health. John Murray, Associate Health & Safety Practitioner at McAdam Design, followed by outlining changes at the pre-construction stage and how designers can impact on occupational health during the construction phase of works. The event then heard from two experts from the Republic of Ireland - Frank Power, Senior Ergonomist (Inspector) at HSA, and Ann Logan, Key Account Manager for Ireland from Sundström Safety AB, with talks on Ergonomics in Construction and The Current Situation with Silica and Silicosis. The morning was rounded off with Connor O’Rourke, Director, and Marie Sweet, Clinical Lead Nurse Manager, both from Health Matters Occupational Health covering HELD IN THE DUNSILLY HOTEL, ANTRIM ON JUNE 19, THE PACKED CONFERENCE INCLUDED PRESENTATIONS FROM HSENI, MCADAM DESIGN AND THE SAFETY ADVICE CENTRE… BuildHealth hosts its Annual Conference 2025
