Semple & McKillop was appointed within the main contractor’s design-and-build team to complete M&E design for Sysco Ireland’s new distribution hub. Successfully coordinating services with specialist suppliers, Semple & McKillop prepared the preliminary scope to appoint suitable specialists and then developed the design with the appointed packages. McAleer & McGarrity was responsible for installation of all plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, life safety and building management systems at Sysco Ireland’s new logistics hub. Kevin McGarrity, Managing Director, said, “This was a complex site
with buildings spread over a huge area, so careful consideration had to be given to the selection and separation of systems, control strategies and ultimately providing the best possible systems for our clients needs. “Our teams worked closely with Heron Bros to advance any systems that we could at an early stage, to make the final commissioning processes more straightforward and keep ahead of programme. “As usual, Heron Bros assisted in any way possible, and the overall project was completed fairly seamlessly.” Based in Co Tyrone, McAleer & McGarrity has established a reputation for delivering high-quality mechanical installations on time and to budget across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and GB.

Dan Gilchrist, Director, said, “Careful design planning was required to specify systems suitable for this temperature- controlled environment, design service routes that minimised disruption and design penetrations to the refrigerated envelope that preserved the integrity of the thermal envelope as much as possible. These challenges were effectively addressed by implementing the recommendations from our Design Option Appraisals. This facilitated coordinated decision-making among stakeholders and supported the contractor in delivering a high- quality, technically-robust solution.”
