Vocation The Largest Study on Faith and Work Today Social scientists Elaine Howard Ecklund and Denise Daniels have conducted a first-of-its-kind set of research projects to form a data-driven approach to the challenges of fostering faith at work. This book presents results from the most comprehensive set of studies to date on religion in the workplace, involving focus groups, surveys of more than 15,000 workers, and interviews with over 300 individuals. Award-winning scholars Ecklund and Daniels: • Offer a timely, research-based, and theologically rooted vision for Christian influence in the workplace. • Feature insights from both social science and personal experience. • Identify five key tensions arising from changing demographics in American culture. • Suggest practical applications for all levels of workplace contribution. • Include questions for personal reflection or group discussion in each chapter. How Christians respond to current cultural shifts will determine whether the faith at work movement retreats into a self-protective corner or fosters redemptive presence, with ripple effects far beyond each individual. Working for Better is an essential resource for students, pastors, managers, and workers who want to promote the common good.
