By amplifying the voices of those affected by homelessness, we can work towards creat- ing policies that promote fair housing practices and allocate necessary resources to combat the issue. The disproportionate impact of homelessness on the Af- rican American community in Dane County is a pressing concern that requires immediate attention. By acknowl- edging the systemic disparities, supporting organizations working tirelessly to address the issue, and advocating for equitable solutions, we can create positive change. Togeth- er, as a community, we must strive for housing justice and ensure that every individual, regardless of their race or background, has access to safe, affordable housing. African Americans make up only 5% of the population of Dane County but account for almost half of the homeless population.
