Drawing & Painting A fun approach to learning the basics of drawing , this class will focus on drawing from observation and developing creativity . INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING COLOR THEORY THROUGH COLORED PENCILS

ART HISTORY

This class presents Art History with storytelling and a thematic approach . Instead of presenting art through a chronology , each lecture will present art within a particular theme , such as art about portraiture , art about food and shelter , and art about nature and technology . By focusing on a theme for each class , we hope to show that there are ideas that we humans find important across the distance of time , space , and cultures . This class also gives participants the opportunity to make art based around each of these themes . Supplies : 11x14 drawing pad , Color pencils .

In this class we will use color theory , drawing techniques and observation to get the most from your colored pencils . Subject matter will include Still Life , Plants from the Garden , and Landscape . This class is for beginners and advanced students alike ! Come enjoy learning in a relaxed and inspiring environment , developing your understanding of color and improving your drawing skills . Introduction to Drawing covers the basic principles and elements of design and teaches you how to create an appealing composition and observe the natural world and create imaginary ones . This is a drawing class for beginners and the assignments given the first half of the term are based on exploring those principles and elements of design while the second half of the term focuses on putting into action what you ’ ve learned . ACRYLIC PAINTING

SOFT AND HARD POWDER PASTELS ( AGES 14 AND UP )

Celebrate your creativity through painting ! Students will experience the joy of making art through one of the most flexible art mediums : acrylic paint . This acrylic painting class is structured through projects emphasizing color theory and is open to all skill levels . Please check the registration receipt for a link to the class supply list .

Learn the difference in the two types of powder pastels and how to use them together to create colorful works of art . We will use still life , nature from Callanwolde ,' s gardens and landscape to develop your drawing skills and use of color through powder pastels . MIXED MEDIA DRAWING AND PAINTING : CREATING A SERIES

In Figure Drawing students will be examining the human form up close while drawing from observation . Students will explore rapid movement and position change with gestures for half the session . The second half will be reserved for durational drawing with detail . Check your registration receipt for a link to the supply list .

This class will be a discovery of Callanwolde ’ s unique interior architecture . Each 2 hour class will be divided in half - one hour for warm up , and one hour on our “ Show Piece .” We will learn fundamentals of perspective , composition , and confidence of line ; but most of all we will learn our own individual design which is our signature as an artist . This class is suitable for adults . Please check your registration receipt for a link to the supply list .

Have some experience with drawing or painting and are ready to take your skills to the next level ? This is the class for you ! This course is geared towards individual students ’ desired objectives and ideas . Each student will create a series of work based on which techniques and concepts they would like to explore . The first class will be a time to brainstorm , so be prepared with possible concepts , an idea of what media and surfaces you want to use , and come with an open mind ! Supplies , media , and surfaces will be determined according to each students ’ ideas and desires . Please wait until after the first class to purchase new supplies .
