Welcome to our 11th Annual Production Sale! For those who don’t know us, we are a fifth- and sixth-generation family farm and ranch in northwestern North Dakota, with the seventh generation in the making. Our family homesteaded here in 1906, originally raising crops and several different breeds of commercial cattle, with the most recent commercial herd being Red Angus. In 2012, John began his vision of building a registered Red Angus herd by purchasing our first registered females. We sold our first private-treaty bulls in 2014 and hosted our first official private-treaty sale in 2016. Cattlemen, it’s no secret that we are experiencing historic and exciting times in the cattle industry. With that opportunity comes the responsibility of careful genetic selection for tomorrow. With the national cattle inventory at the lowest level in 74 years, added carcass weight and high-yielding cattle are more important than ever. As every breeder says, we feel this year’s offering is as exciting as any group of bulls and females we have ever assembled. While that may sound repetitive year after year, it’s something every producer should be glad to hear—it means progress is being made, both within individual herds and across the industry as a whole. This year’s bulls have been selected from the top end of our 2025 calf crop, with an emphasis on phenotype, performance, and structural correctness. Our bulls are developed on a TMR ration. We believe they are fed properly—not pushed nor underfed—to promote sound development and long-term performance. Just as athletes balance nutrition to meet their demands, bulls are athletes as well. They’re expected to travel, breed, and work, and proper nutrition is essential to prepare them for their first breeding season. We continue to pursue progress and improvement in our herd for the benefit of the industry. Our breeding program includes natural service, extensive use of AI, and recent expansion into embryo transfer. We operate with a strict breeding season, pulling bulls consistently each year to maintain fertility and naturally identify and remove underperforming cows.
This year’s sale will once again be online-only through www.DVAuction.com.
We would love to have you come out and tour the offering prior to sale day. To encourage this, we are offering a $100 “boots-on-the-ground” credit to anyone who views the bulls in person before the sale. As always, no one knows our cattle better than we do. Stop by and stroll through the bulls with us, or give us a call. We would be happy to answer any questions about our cattle, our operation, or the sale, and help you find the next breeding piece to move your herd forward.
May God be with you in this new year of adventures, and may your hearts be aligned with His.
