Senior Note from EM: IT Update: 2025 Cyber Tabletop Exercises Highlights
At Fisher Brothers, the IT operational team and the executive team recently participated in our annual tabletop exercises (TTX). A tabletop exercise is a collaborative, discussion-based simulation where teams gather around a “table” (virtually or in-person) to walk through hypothetical scenarios, like cyber incidents, step by step. It’s like a strategic rehearsal—no real systems are affected—focusing on roles, decisions, and coordination to build preparedness without the pressure of a live event. In 2025, we partnered with Next Peak for executive (ETTX) and operational (OTTX) sessions simulating challenges such as venue disruptions, ransomware, and data protection. The scenarios drew from real-world possibilities, including a hijacking of digital systems at our Area 15 entertainment venue in Las Vegas, a ransomware event impacting development projects like building models and blueprints, and a data breach involving sensitive investor information. These fostered teamwork and awareness across our organization.
Key strengths demonstrated:
• Leadership & Culture: High executive and IT engagement, early escalation, and strong collaboration in legal, operations, and communications. • Technical Capability: Deep knowledge of tools, ransomware processes, and evidence handling; teams welcomed feedback for ongoing improvement. • Teamwork & Preparedness: Active participation, broad risk awareness, robust cyber controls like backups, and a purpose-driven, collaborative culture.
These exercises underscore our resilience and dedication to security.
