10 TH ANNUAL BULL SALE

From Cattle Yards & Hay Fields to Faith: A Cattleman’s Journey to Christ

Welcome to the 10th Annual HERB ANGUS Bull Sale

I was raised in the typical midwest agriculture industry where farm families worked 7 days a week striving to keep up and keep ahead of the industries challenges, the kind of place where the sun decides your schedule and the cattle tell you whether you’ve done your job right. My hands learned calluses before they learned prayer. In our world, faith was work—fix the fence, bail the hay, pull a calf at two in the morning. If God had a place in it, I figured He’d understand that there wasn’t much time left over. The years taught me how fragile a man’s plans are. Drought came like a thief, stealing grass and hope in the same season. Prices fell when the bills rose. I watched storms flatten months of work in a single afternoon. I buried good cows and better dreams. Pride kept me silent, and exhaustion kept me hard. I told myself that grit was enough that if I just worked longer and pushed harder, things would turn around. But time has a way of wearing a man thin. One year, after a string of losses and a winter that seemed to have no mercy, I found myself sitting on the tailgate before daylight, staring at a pasture that had nothing left to give. I felt empty in the same way used up, worn down, and unsure how much longer I could keep going. For the first time, I didn’t have an answer. And for the first time, I admitted that maybe I wasn’t meant to carry it all alone. I didn’t come to Christ in a church pew. I came to Him in the quiet, with the sound of cattle shifting in the dark and the weight of years pressing on my chest. I didn’t have polished words just an honest confession that I needed help, that I was tired of pretending I was strong enough on my own. I asked God to meet me where I was, because I didn’t know how to get anywhere else. And He did. Faith didn’t change the weather or erase my debts overnight. The trials didn’t stop. Calves still died. Markets still turned. But some- thing in me began to change. I started to see that my worth wasn’t measured by rainfall totals or sale barn receipts. I learned that trusting Christ didn’t mean quitting the work it meant surrendering the outcome. Over time, Scripture began to sound like the land I knew. I understood what it meant to plant and wait, to trust growth you can’t see yet. I learned patience from seasons that still came slow, and gratitude from small mercies a healthy calf, a timely rain, a neighbor who showed up when I didn’t ask. Christ met me in the discipline of daily chores and the humility of knowing I am not in control. The greatest change wasn’t in my operation it was in my heart. Where anger once lived, peace took root. Where fear of failure ruled, hope began to grow. I stopped measuring success only by profit and started measuring it by faithfulness. I learned that Christ walked with me through every dry spell and every long night, steady and sure. Today, I still work cattle. I still face uncertainty. But I do it with a confidence that doesn’t come from my own strength. I know now that time and trials weren’t sent to break me they were used to lead me. Through the test of years in the agriculture industry, Christ showed me that the same God who watches over the sparrows watches over a cattleman too. And that kind of faith, once earned in the dirt and dust of real life, is strong enough to last.

CORE VALUES Core Values

“I trust God not because I understand the path, but because I come to know the Guide.”

AMERICAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION SELECTION TOOLS Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait.

PRODUCTION Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease. Breed average +7. Birth Weight (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that ofother sires. Breed average is +1.2 Weaning Weight (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Breed average is +61 Yearling Weight (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Breed average is +108 Scrotal Circumference (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires. Breed average is +.86 MATERNAL Maternal Milk (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. CARCUSS Marbling (Marb), is expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Ribeye Area (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. $VALUE SELECTION INDEXES Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning. Increased selection pressure on $M aims to decrease overall mature cow size and improve foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with today’s production. Weaned Calf Value ($W), expressed in dollars per head, provides the expected difference in future progeny preweaning performance from birth to weaning. In- creased selection pressure on $W increases weaning and maternal milk traits while increasing mature cow size. Beef Value ($B), expressed in dollars per carcass, represents the expected average differences in the progeny postweaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. This index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot phase, and market these animals on a quality-based carcass grid. $C (Combined Value), expressed in dollars per head, includes $M and $B with the objevtive that a producer will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with heifers retained, while the producer retains ownership of all remaining male and female progeny through the feedlot and sold on a carcass merit grid. Breed average is +239

Powered By Igenity Beef Igenity Beef adds another important layer by using DNA based insights derived from more than 500,000 genotyped animals across multiple breeds. This allows us to evaluate genetic potential at the individual animal level, especially in young bulls that do not yet have progeny data. Using Igenity Beef helps us to: *Validate and strengthen predicted performance *Identify genetic strengths and potential risk areas earlier *Provide greater confidence in traits that are difficult or slow to measure, such as feed efficiency, fertility, and carcass merit Why We Use Both In short, AAA EPDs describe expected performance within the Angus breed, while Igenity Beef DNA helps confirm genetic potential relevant to the commercial sector. Used together, these tools reduce guesswork, improve reliability, and help ensure the bulls we offer are positioned to add real world value in a wide range of production systems. How to read the DNA data from Neogen tissue samples The tissue samples taken from our cattle were analyzed by Neogen, a leading animal genomics company. The results are then interpreted through the Igenity Beef platform. Why we use DNA in addition to EPD s We believe in providing as much useful, transparent information as possible so you can buy bulls with confidence and clarity. That’s why we evaluate our cattle using both the American Angus Association EPDs and Igenity® Beef DNA technology powered by Neogen. American Angus Association EPDs AAA EPDs remain the industry standard and form the foundation for comparing Angus cattle nationwide. They are built from pedigree, performance records, and progeny data collected over time and are an essential tool for evaluating expected performance within the Angus breed.

Igenity Beef scores are designed so that higher scores indicate more desirable genetic outcomes for each trait. In most cases, a higher score reflects improved performance, efficiency, or carcass merit. For traits like Birth Weight (BW), a higher score indicates greater calving ease.

Our commitment to you By combining traditional performance data with advanced DNA testing, we aim to offer bulls that are not only visually sound but also genetically backed. Our goal is to help you buy cattle that fit your program, reduce risk, and add long-term value to your herd.

Bruin Fellow 8224- Sire of Lot 1

• His Grand dam “Herb Upgrade 412 Z212” is 12 years old and still in production. She has earned her way to the donor pen this year and has several daughters as well as grand daughters that are getting the job done. “Simplify” is proof of the power and consistency of this cow family. • Study his pedigree and you will see “Bruin 1023 Blackbird 8616” that still walks at Bruin Ranch at 17 years old. I personally had the privilege to see this cow this past summer and she deserves the right to be at the top for one of the most proven and impressive cows in the angus breed! • His maternal sire “Bam” has made a tremendous impact here at Herb Angus siring females with beautiful udders and will add growth and performance that makes “Simplify” extremely unique. Offering true balance between maternal and performance.

“Upon touring the Herbolsheimer cowherd and visiting with Bryan and Crystal about the goals of their program Fellow was the logical choice. Blending the maternal strength and longevity of his pedigree and 17-year-old dam with the Herbolsheimer established type, We believe these sons will produce the best of both worlds. These Fellow sons are bred to produce females adapted to this environment and steers with the get up and go needed to command top dollar in our marketplace. Fellow sons are unique to only a handful of our closest friends in the business who we shared the opportunity to utilize these genetics.” Joe Fischer - Bruin Ranch

• This is a special individual that puts together a complete package of growth, performance, structural correctness, and maternal power. • His dam 9037 has become an outlier on wean day with her calves consistently finding their way to the top and has bred back on the first cycle every year. • Extremely good disposition, clean sheath, big nutted, good footed. With this type of phenotype he sorts himself to the top with ease! • We believe that a true breeding bull will sire a son better than himself and “Bam” has done it with “Slugger.” • We are extremely confident in Slugger’s future as a recognized herd sire here at HERB Angus and have plans to AI to him ourselves this spring.

• His dam is 11 years old that has a perfect utter and has put many daughters back in our program. • “Luxury” is a phenotypic standout that offers calving ease and performance you demand in a heifer bull along with the power and pounds needed to countinue to improve your mature cowherd. • A true Female Maker! • This is the type of bull that will make “Steers that pay through females that stay.”

• Sired by “Bam” and backed by “Byergo Black Magic” on his maternal side makes 5004 a true performance bull that has a double shot of extra pounds in his pedigree. • We purchased his 10 year old dam from Byergo Angus that has been super productive. She has added more growth in her offspring and it shows up on this bull. • Extremely long spined, stout made bull that will add extra pounds to your calf crop.

• Phenotypic standout that has great feet, smooth jointed that can move with ease. • Extended through his front end and super long spined, gets me excited to see the females that he produces. • At Herb Angus we get excited about bulls like “5016” the kind you don’t have to give up phenotype for performance.

• Take a look at the performance numbers. Backed by his maternal made sire “Bruin Fellow” makes him a truly unique individual with an outcross pedigree. • Larger famed Fellow son that will add pounds but not sacrifice maternal longevity. When 5005 was 60 days old we unfortunately lost his mother last spring, but his genetics shined bright with a weaning weight ratio of 105 without creep feed and no mother. Just think what kind of outlier he would’ve been with his mother’s help. • One of the best dispositioned bulls in the offering. • Backed by his 12 year old dam, Herb Fellow 5005 will be a crowd favorite on sale day!

‘Fellow has continued to jump through all the production hoops by producing sons that have highlighted the sale season and the type of females the west commands. His broody females combine perfect udders and teat size with above average milk. His first daughters are now five-year-olds and have proven through actual production their ability to have a positive impact on a program. We confidently believe Fellow’s story in the Angus breed is just beginning. The bulls are the front pasture type, commanding attention with their body length, extension, overall depth, and muscle shape.” Joe Fischer - Bruin Ranch

• “5025” is one of my personal favorites in the offering this year and is arguably the most predictable bull in the sale. • His 10 year old dam has raised multiple high sellers in years past to both top end commercial and purebred breeders. “Herb Double Black E0302” has been one of the most productive cows ever to walk at Herb Angus. • Maternal brother to our herd sire “Locked N Loaded’ who’s sons sell as lots 26-33. • We purchased his sire “Mohnen Incentive 843” two years ago to bring in an outcross pedigree with more moderate frame that offered easy fleshing ability and foot quality. • Consistency is the key to success and that is the true definition of “5025”.

• Here is a pair of bulls backed by females that are moderate framed, awesome uttered, and deep ribbed with a ton of capacity. • Both Lot 9 & 10 are extremely long spined and square hipped. • When you look a little deeper into the pedigrees of these bulls you will notice they are backed by some of the industries leading programs along with momma cows that are getting the job done here at Herb Angus. • With the nations cow numbers at an all time low, and an opportunity to capitalize selling quality females we are confident that this set of bulls will produce you a set of replacement quality females that are in high demand.

OUR GUARANTEE All bulls are fully guaranteed for the first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 60-day period following the first turnout of the bulls. If your bull is injured, give us a call immediately. We will take the bull back and replace him with another bull we have on hand or you can choose to receive a sale credit on the following year’s sale. We understand the value of a dollar and know you work just as hard as we do for that dollar. It doesn’t matter if you spend $1,000 or $10,000, we will stand 100% behind our cattle. We firmly believe that a handshake should still hold value and it’s a direct indication of the quality of a person’s word. Let us shake your hand and partner with you to maintain the Good-Ol-Boy System.

About The Stars It’s our EPD shortcut system. We know many of you are looking for bulls that will do specific jobs like:

• Lower birth weights • Increase pay weights • Produce better replacements

Maybe all these things. We also know that the amount of data available today in the bull evaluations can be confusing. So, we built a quick and easy shortcut system for you. We grade the bulls on a scale of 1 to 5 for combinations of traits including EPD, individual performance, cow family, sibling history, etc. Bulls with 5 stars are ELITE for a given trait while bulls with 1 star could be better, and so on. We hope the shortcut system is helpful to you in your sorting process.

“We decided to utilize Igenity Beef DNA testing because we wanted a clearer and more honest way to describe these cattle. Measuring genetics across all breeds gives both commercial and registered customers the ability to truly compare their own herd to this bull offering and make buying decisions based on where their program actually needs to go. We believe the DNA data adds another layer of confidence by validating the real world performance of these bulls and the cow families behind them. As most successful breeders know, you can’t improve what you don’t measure, and the strength of the Igenity Beef scores across this offering confirms the years of disciplined selection and management that have gone into building the Herb Angus program. Simply put, the data backs up what you can already see in the cattle. ” - Jeff Clark ... Jeff Clark

• He’s very smooth made that offers a combination of calving ease and growth.

• Good footed, long sided, super attractive “Mojo” son that was special from day one. • The dam of “5011” brings a lot of excitement to our program that you will hear more about in the years to come. • His sire, “MLN Mojo 0413” was purchased from Minarik Cattle Company, that brought an outcross pedigree to our program. His structural correctness, phenotype, and performance shows up in this sire group.

• Another “Mojo” son out of a 10 year old dam. If you are looking for a set of bulls to put females back in the herd don’t overlook lots 17-19 out of proven good uddered cows that have bred back every year.

• •

Recommended for Heifers or Cows. Youngest bull in the offering.

• With calving ease on both sides of his pedigree, “Herb Crossover” and “Byergo Silver Bullet” makes him a sure shot heifer bull.

• Great Grand Dam is 12 years old and still in production.

It has been a humbling experience to be invited to be part of the HERB Angus team. We call ourselves “Program Support” because no traditional labels accurately describe the services we provide. While we do help with some of the management of an operation’s sale, we are not sale managers. Ranch Family Resources strives to be an extension of and a resource to the programs who have sought our services. We work with our clients to help fine tune their goals and develop manageable action plans by identifying areas of weakness, opportunities, financial evaluation, genetic program design, marketing guidance, long term planning & data management/analytics. The uniqueness of every program highlights the need to tailor make plans that fit each operation. Our aim is to become a member of your team and provide you with the tools needed to help you invest in yourself. Working with the Herbolsheimer family for the last two years has revealed a program of exceptional people who eat, sleep and breathe their faith, the livestock industry and rural American life. Their program direction is clear, focused and committed to their customer base and community. We are honored that they have allowed us to become trusted members of their team and we look forward to meeting you on February 21, 2026. Ranch Family Resources

Recommended for Heifers or Cows.

• Female maker deluxe! Here is a “Crossover” son backed by some of the best females to walk here at Herb Angus. His great grand dam “7101” was in production until she was 16 years old. His grand dam is 10 years old and still in production. She just earned her way to the donor pen and his dam is a super productive 6 year old with a beautiful udder.

HERB Crossover Sire of Lot 22

Recommended for Heifers or Cows.

• Moderate framed “Crossover” son that is soft made without sacrificing the thick- ness and muscle shape that will add pounds as well as over-all numbers to your big end of steers. • This is a calving ease bull that you can use on heifers the first year and will want to use on the mature cows after that without sacrificing any performance. • His sire “Herb Crossover” has been a crowd favorite the past couple years, from performing in the feedlot to females going back into the herd. “Crossover” sons have been a dual purpose sire group and have done everything we have expected them to do.

By using Igenity Beef it has allowed us to prove out the performance and predictability of these commercial bulls. They go through the same selection process as the registered bulls and are out of proven momma cows that have stood the test of time in our program.
