Mondi Consumer Flexibles Expands In Russia Mondi, a global packaging and paper supplier, is in- vesting in its flexible packaging plants, in Aramil and Pereslavl in Russia, to provide customers with im- proved flexibility and a broader portfolio, including sustainable packaging solutions. Mondi Consumer Flexibles Russia will bolster its ro- togravure capacities by adding a new machine in Mon- di Pereslavl.The machine will be installed by the first quarter of 2021. This investment, along with Aramil’s added focus on flexographic printing, will meet demand from major FMCG and other customers while providing shorter lead times for delivery. Pereslavl will also offer flexo- graphic printing for customers alongside their newly increased rotogravure capacity. To meet rising demand in Russia for sustainable pack- aging for the confectionary, food and dry and wet pet food markets, Mondi will broaden the range of com- petitive packaging solutions. The plant in Aramil will also install a nine-layer co-extrusion line to produce high-barrier films by the end of 2020. This updated product portfolio will offer a range from mono-materi- als to multi-layer high-barrier laminates,many of which already meet current sustainability criteria, such as re- cyclability. Vollherbst Signs Beta Agreement For EcoLeaf Vollherbst Druck has invested in an EcoLeaf unit fromA B Graphic International utilizing a metallization technology developed by Actega Metal Print. Marking the first EcoLeaf order to be booked by Actega Metal Print’s recently announced global commercial partner ABG, also representing the first joint beta site between both parties, the metallization unit is expected to be installed in September 2020 on Vollherbst’s existing A B Graphic Digicon Series 3 converting machine. Heidelberg Pulls Out Of Drupa Heidelberg has announced it will no longer partic- ipate in drupa 2021, opting instead for virtual and regional events with its customers. COVID-19 has ac- celerated the move toward digital and local events. Although there is no way of knowing what the im- pact of the virus will be next year, Heidelberg needed to make a decision now.Therefore, the company has decided to not participate in international trade fairs next year.
