Dakota Xpress - Annual Simmental Bull & Female Sale [2/20/26]

Welcome to the Dakota Xpress annual production sale. We would like to thank you for your past interest and support of our programs and looking forward to working together in the future. Hope this finds you and your families in good health. So, the question is how many of you are actually reading this letter, because we have a damn good set of bulls and females in the offering. So, the test will be how many of you call to BS with us on our bulls or come for a visit. Here we are in 2026, it feels as if we did all of this just a month ago, where does the time go? When you think about where the cattle market is today, do you think our ancestors would believe that it would take three steers at $3000 at today’s prices, to buy a bull? This is what we are seeing in the recent bull market. All indicators show a very similar market price to the 2025 fall calf price. Our development program of the cattle includes they were vaccinated at birth with C & D, then at branding time in May they received Vista Once with 7 way/Somnus and went to native summer pastures with no creep feed. In mid-September calves are pre-vaccinated with Vista Once and 7 way with Somnus, and then upon weaning the first week in October they receive a booster vaccine and are poured with Clean up. Once weaned they are fed grass hay and are then transferred over to a high roughage ration developed for a 3.5 Lb. gain per day. This TMR ration is so important to develop bulls for growth and future longevity as we have used this program for many years and our customers have commented on how well the bulls hold their shape. The bull offering is the top 40% of all bull calves born on our ranches. The cows at Dakota Xpress must meet the criteria of easy fleshing, calve on their own, have good feet and leg structure, quality udder traits, disposition along with breeding back each year! All bulls in the offering have been genetic tested 100K DNA for parentage, coat color, dilutor gene and polled status, along with an updated genetic evaluation of EPD’s. More data is collected prior to the sale, to give more accurate yearling information, such as scrotal measurement, yearling weight and carcass measurement, this provides a more accurate picture of each
