A $10 transaction fee will be applied. Registration Begins August 11 for residents & August 13 for non-residents @ 8 AM in office or online. Have you ever found yourself wondering about Best Years Trips, where we go, who you might meet if you go on a trip, or maybe how to reconnect with folks who you once met on a trip? This is your chance! We will host a BYT Social at Whitcomb Lodge at Beaverdam Park. Come on by and enjoy light refreshments and a great time for socializing, learning about upcoming trips and helping us get the word out about these trips! NORFOLK BOTANICAL GARDEN IN THE FALL Thursday, October 23, | 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. | $50 Norfolk Botanical Gardens are Virginia's largest botanical gardens! Some of the October blooms include American Beauty Berry, Blue Mist Flower, Flying Dragon and Lion’s Tale. We also have the option of taking a tram tour. This 175-acre garden is home to 53 distinctive themed gardens, 95 species of birds and 30 kinds of butterflies. There are rotating food trucks for lunch, or you may want to bring your own. Dress for the weather, bring a water bottle and wear walking attire. Deadline: October 9. WHITE CHRISTMAS – RIVERSIDE CENTER Wednesday, November 26 | 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. | $140 Based on the beloved Paramount film, the musical follows WWII veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis who team up with sisters Betty and Judy for a Christmas Show at a Vermont Lodge. A themed lunch is included before the play. Deadline is October 13. Join us on a tour of holiday lights sure to put you in the mood for Christmas! We will see Lights at the Fountain (City Center) then make our way to drive through two miles of holiday lights at Newport News Park. Before the lights, we will have dinner at County Grill. Deadline: Nov. 27. ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY Thursday, December 18 | 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. | $60 We will visit the sacred ground of Arlington National Cemetery the week after the placing of Wreaths Across America. We will tour Arlington by tram and view the John F. Kennedy gravesite, Arlington House, Ord and Weitzel Gate, Coast Guard Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Depending on time, you may also have time to view on your own. We will eat on the way home at Texas Jacks. You must bring a REAL ID to enter Arlington. Deadline is November 18. GLITTERING NIGHT OF HOLIDAY LIGHTS Thursday, December 11 | 3:30-8 p.m. | $30

Monticello, his home in Charlottesville, highlights his love of architecture, agriculture, and literature. We will walk the grounds, tour the house, and have lunch at 1:45 in the famous Michie Tavern. Bring a snack to eat before lunch! Deadline is August 21. MONTPELIER Thursday, October 2 | 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. | $85 James Madison was the fourth president, and made his home at Montpelier in Orange County. Madison was the Father of the Constitution and architect of the Bill of Rights, and his home reflects his legacy. The one hour guided tour explores his and his wife, Dolley ‘s, commitment to the country. After our tour we will have lunch at 1:30 at Forked on Main (bring a snack and eat breakfast!). Deadline: Sept. 18. HIGHLAND Thursday, November 6 | 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. | $65 James Monroe was the fifth president and lived at Highland, adjacent to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. The home is currently maintained by the College of William and Mary and features a guest house, Victorian style farmhouse, slave quarters, icehouse, smokehouse and overseer’s cabin. Our trip will include a guided tour, time to explore and lunch at the BBQ Exchange. Bring a snack to eat before lunch. Deadline: Oct. 23. Drumheller’s Apple Festival blends hands-on farming tradition with lively fall fun! Whether you’re launching apples at targets, tasting apple butter fresh from the kettle, enjoying country beats, or simply taking in the scenic mountain air, it will be an experience of Autumnal joy. Lunch is on your own. Deadline September 19. FALL ON SKYLINE DRIVE Thursday, October 9 | 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. | $45 Come ride with us as we tour the scenic Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park via the Skyline Drive. This scenic Byway was built in the 1930’s and is known for its autumnal foliage. We will stop at some of the 75 scenic overlooks and have lunch at the beautiful Spottswood Dining Room at Skyland.
