General Election to be held on Nov. 4, 2025 The Gloucester Department of Elections and Voter Registration would like to announce that the General Election is coming up on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Local offices have formalized their list of candidates, but the Virginia Department of Elections is still qualifying possible additional statewide and General Assembly candidates until August 15. ELECTION DEADLINES: Early voting starts on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Elections Office (6467 Main Street in Gloucester). Our hours are M-F from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Oct. 24. The last day to get registered or make changes to your registration is Saturday, Oct. 25. Additional early voting days: Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gloucester County has a Land Use program which allows taxpayers to apply for specially reduced assessments on certain real estate devoted to agriculture, horticulture and forest uses. The program requirements include: 5 acres minimum of contiguous land (excluding a one-acre home site) for Agricultural and Horticultural lands. 20 acres minimum of contiguous land (excluding a one-acre home site) for Forest Use. The filing deadline for new applications and revalidation forms will be November 1. As participant in the Land Use Program, the property owner is responsible for notifying the COR Office within 60 days following any change in use. Local tax information The Gloucester County Treasurer's Office would like to remind all county citizens that the second installment of personal property and real estate tax bills will be mailed by the start of November, with a due date of December 5. Payments made in the Treasurer's Office by, or postmarked with the date of, Dec. 5, 2025 (or before) will be timely. Accounts remaining unpaid after the deadline will be subject to additional charges as provided by the Code of Virginia and the Gloucester County code.
