Celebrating the New Irvine Public Library, a Milestone in City History Once upon a time in the City of Irvine, there was a vision to create a library system where all who entered could get lost in rows of books, discover new stories, and find community through exciting events and programming. This summer, that vision came to life. A New Story Unfolds Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held Sunday, August 3, celebrating a significant milestone as the City officially launched the Irvine Public Library, marking the successful transition of services from the County of Orange. Heritage Park and University Park Library Branches officially opened their doors to the community Monday, August 4, while the Katie Wheeler Library Branch, which is currently closed, will open in early 2026. The two branches welcomed visitors with new carpeting and furniture, freshly painted walls, enhanced study nooks and gathering spaces, and gallery walls featuring images of Irvine through the years, reflecting local history and culture. Following months of community input gathered through numerous outreach meetings and digital engagement, the City and library staff developed intentional services and programs thoughtfully tailored

to meet the specific needs of Irvine residents. The result is a library system uniquely crafted to serve and enrich this vibrant community with expanded collections, digital resources,
