Going the Extra Mile

Q&A with the Irvine Public Library Team

What can residents look forward to with the Irvine Public Library? We envision the library as a welcoming space where residents connect, whether through storytime, cultural events, study groups, or just finding a comfortable place to read. The community can access a robust and inclusive collection that reflects the diverse voices and experiences of the entire community, as well as a Library of Things, which will include bike repair kits, telescopes, guitars, ghost hunting kits, and more! They can also look forward to an increase in events for all ages from young students to older adults. This includes high quality storytimes with early literacy and early development skills and techniques tied in.

Meet the incredible team behind the new Irvine Public Library — a group of passionate and experienced professionals who have come together from across the region to create something truly extraordinary for our community. With more than 100 years of combined experience, they’ve served at libraries throughout Southern California including those operated by the cities of Yorba Linda, Mission Viejo, Huntington Beach, and Rancho Cucamonga, as well as the County of Orange. They recently took a moment out of their day to share their vision and plans for the Irvine Public Library — as well as a few book recommendations.
