Sand erosion on our beaches is not only a threat to the state’s economy; it’s a threat to our identity and way of life here in Southern California. So UC Irvine scientist Brett Sanders and his team have developed technologies to monitor sand movement and pinpoint areas in need of replenishment. The goal: devise smarter plans to minimize and reverse coastal erosion. At UC Irvine, our researchers are asking different questions. And finding better answers to the problems that affect us all.
