1. All-Sufficient Promise “ For he hg.th said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb. 13:5). “Standing at the portal Of the opening year, Words of comfort meet us,. Hushing every fear; Spoken through the silence By our Father’s voice, Tender, strong and faithful, Making us rejoice.

Instead of acting like kings, many who claim to be sons of God act as meanly as if they were scullions in the kitchen of Mammon. What sep aration from the world, what heav enly walking with God ought to be seen in those who are chosen to be a peculiar people, the representatives of God on earth and courtiers of the New Jerusalem above: As the world waxes worse and w:~* , it, becomes men of God to become better and better. —Charles Haddon Spurgeon. Well-founded Faith “Have faith in God” (Mk. 11:22). Notice that it is not a word of invi tation, but a command to those who would follow in the footsteps of the Lamb. It would be well for us to con sider God’s faithfulness in the past, His day-by-day provision for our every need, and His promises for the future, that we might hold to the faithfulness of God, stepping out on firm ground, built on the solid Rock. . . . “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.” Unto this very day, God has been faithful. We so often speak of some spectacular thing in’ life as a miracle, forgetting that each moment we live is a miracle, each breath we take is a gift from God.—Helen Larson. Worship and Praise “ And they worshipped him, and re turned to Jerusalem with great joy: And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God” (Lk. 24:52, 53). : These men were in the joy of this in spirit. They do not seem In that glad hour to have had anything to pray for; it was all overflowing praise and worship with them. They had to pray later, and they did pray with real purpose, and we shall need to pray every day, but there is this other side, so near .* the heart of God. He would have us t aw near for His own sake and not simply because we have needs. He would have us near. Him self because He loves us greatly and He desires that our love should flow out to Him in response. —J. T. Mawson. Satisfied Hunger “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7). If His Word is to abide in us, it means that no matter how busy the days, how heavy the demands upon 4. 5.

2. The Master Pattern “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed . . . that ye may prove what is that good, and accept able, and perfect w ill of God” (Rom. 12 : 2 ). The word, “ be not conformed to the world,” literally means, “Be ye not cut out according to the pattern of- the world.” It is “to mold” or “ to fashion” or “ to cut out.” It could be “styled.” “Do not get your style from the world . . . do not pattern your soul, your life, after the world’s customs and traditions.” Get your styles from Christ. We are not to get our pattern from Christians, either, but we are to get.it from the one Master Pattern, who is the Lord Jesus Christ. —Robert B. Mungef. Attitude of King's Sons “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (Gal. 4:7). Dear Friends: The King's Business has been giv ing me many happy hours of read ing and study as I travel the sea as a Merchant Marine. Since May 20, 1943, I have had 30,000 miles of sea experience. As I sail the ocean, I continually keep Christ as my Guide and Captain and try to speak a word to my fe l low sea mates as the way is op ?. --d. Yours, because of Ca \ary, Seaman E. C., 3.
