PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME IN TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER IN MALAYSIA.
The two-year project under the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund partnership commenced in November 2019 with the objectives of creating a conducive and supportive knowledge exchange ecosystem in the technology transfer governance, legal and regulatory framework in Malaysia. In the first phase, British Council, ALP Synergy and MIGHT organised a workshop on 14-15 January 2020 to identify the current status and challenges of technology transfer in Malaysia and develop key strategies to overcome those challenges. The second
phase of the project conducted in Quarter 4 of 2020 involved technology transfer professionals and legal experts to review the UK and Malaysian legal frameworks related to technology transfer, and the sharing of case studies from the UK and US experiences. This includes the legal frameworks surrounding the foundations of the universities’ science and technology parks and universities’ holdings.
