The VA was based on the three-fold objectives of progress to commercialisation, developing evidence-based business practice using hypothesis testing and adopting an entrepreneurial “can-do” mindset. This was run in addition to the contracted remote training webinars, virtual classes and In-Country Event (ICE). In September 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the LIF6 in-country event (ICE) was held virtually. The purpose of ICE was to unlock the potential of virtual engagement, introduce flexibility into the working schedules and build on the learning and success of the well-attended VA. The SHINE team designed a light touch three-week distributed “learn and connect” which helped them learn, experience and practice various stages of start-up growth through world-class online business simulation gamification. Fellows worked in teams mixed with alumni, practiced their skills, learnt about business operations, and had a chance to listen to local experts for feedback and cement their learning.
