ASIA PACIFIC FUTURES NETWORK (APFN) VIRTUAL CONFERENCE, REGENERATING ASIA 2050 19-21 November 2020, via online
Asia Pacific Futures Network (APFN) Virtual Conference Regenerating Asia 2050 was organised virtually by the host country, the Philippines. The programme seeks to explore Asian perspectives and inform of futures studies and emerging issues that are likely to challenge current trajectories and spread the use of foresight by building stronger links with other future-focused institutions and organisations worldwide.
During the Special Session – “Why Foresight Matters for Policy Makers”, Mr. Rushdi Abdul Rahim introduced the use of MIGHT F.I.R.S.T ™ Matrix in assisting policy makers manage information, data and knowledge in a more structured manner.
IMPROVING FORESIGHT TRAINING AND DELIVERY MIGHT-myForesight® worked with The WHO Western Pacific Region (WPRO) Strategic Dialogue team in putting together the Mongolian Future Trends Deck Card, a tool to support health futures strategic dialogue. The deck serves as an enticing introduction tool to futures- thinking before engaging in deeper strategic dialogue. The WPRO Strategic Dialogue (DIA) team would use the card deck to help workshop participants in the WHO country office in Mongolia to explore future trends that may have an impact on health, and to provoke “atypical” thinking. It will also be used as a tool during “idle times”, for instance in-between sessions, which would stimulate their thinking on subjects and think more deeply on trends and linkages that they did not necessarily have in mind initially.
The Mongolian Future Trends Deck Card was inspired by MIGHT- myForesight® Trends Deck Card produced in 2017 as a tool to stimulate ideas, incite deliberations as well as inspire exploration of the futures as it provides awareness about past, current and future changes.
