BILATERAL MEETING BETWEEN MIGHT - INDONESIA INSTITUTE OF SCIENCES (LIPI)

The first engagement with an I-COE partner is with Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI) which was led by YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, FASc, Joint Chairman (Industry) of MIGHT. The objective of the meeting was to explore potential collaborations while strengthening the relationship between MIGHT and LIPI.

CALL FOR COLLABORATION BETWEEN LIPI, IMR , ASM AND MIGHT

Due to the global pandemic COVID-19 and the Movement Control Order, a virtual session was held again between LIPI, IMR, and ASM. Both IMR and LIPI agreed to explore areas of collaboration, especially in test kits for rapid detection, potential vaccines development, genome sequencing and herbal medication.

COLLECTIVE RESPONSE TO COVID-19 WITH TUBITAK

With the increase in COVID cases I-COE partners agreed to come together for a high level dialogue to deliberate on ‘Technology for Better Healthcare: COVID-19 and Beyond’. The approach of “co-creation” and “succeeding together” has moved to a new dimension of finding evidence-based solutions in the COVID-19 pandemic environment. Both TUBITAK and MIGHT agreed to translational research between Turkey and Malaysia. These include: Emerging technology such as drones, sensors and AI for monitoring and surveillance designed to assist in managing the pandemic and operating in the new normal. Food security efforts designed to strengthen the capacities of small-scale farmers and their organisations to enhance resilience against disasters or pandemic. This includes establishing fast-maturing alternative agricultural and rural enterprises, and maintaining and producing sufficient, high-quality yields. Education technology which focuses on e-learning and digital education thus enabling education practitioners to reach out to students more efficiently and effectively. a b c
