FUTURE DIRECTION FOR THE MACHINERY & EQUIPMENT (M&E) INDUSTRY 20 July 2020, MIGHT The Research Technical Working Group (RTWG) is a platform to oversee AMIC upcoming activities and potential programmes. Operating in collaboration with local and international partners, the programmes provide universities, industries and research institutes strategic directions and focus areas to tap into aerospace related domains. Three research themes namely “Sustainable Aviation”, “Factory of The Future”, and “Training of The Future” were selected to mark a step change towards the sustainability of Malaysia’s aerospace industry. To date, some programmes had been successfully completed under the 11th Malaysian Plan whilst new programmes are taking shape under the 12th Malaysia Plan through integrated approaches and support from the government, industry and academia. AEROSPACE MALAYSIA INNOVATION CENTRE - RESEARCH TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP (AMIC-RTWG) AND SUSTAINABILITY OF MALAYSIA’S AEROSPACE INDUSTRY 23 June 2020, via online MIGHT has been affiliated with the Aerospace Malaysian Innovation Centre (AMIC) since its inception in 2011 as a member of the Board of Directors. The establishment of AMIC as an industry-led research center was a key recommendations laid out in the National Aerospace Blueprint 1997.
A Focus Group Discussion for Machinery and Equipment (M&E) industry was conducted, attended by representatives from Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI), Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF), Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), ViTrox Technologies, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Machinery and Engineering Industries Federation (MEIF), Machinery And Equipment Manufacturers Association
(MEMA), Niche Frontier, Muhibbah Engineering, Association Of Marine Industries Of Malaysia (AMIM), SME Bank and SME Corp to chart the strategies for the national M&E industry from the perspective of industry and government sectors. The FGD produced preliminary strategies on how industry and government should play their respective roles to achieve the desired business environment inclusive of competitiveness, capabilities and connectedness.
