THE NEXT LEAP FORWARD FOR THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRY 19 August 2020, MIGHT
Two stakeholder engagement workshops were held in collaboration with National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office (NAICO) and Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC) to gain insights from the stakeholders in formulating strategies and initiatives for the aerospace industry. The industry was represented by manufacturers, MRO players and training institutions including Spirit AeroSystems Malaysia Sdn Bhd, CTRM, Malaysia Airlines Berhad and Asahi Aero Malaysia Sdn Bhd amongst others, while the government sector was represented by the relevant ministries and agencies. The strengthening of the aerospace industry will focus on strengthening six pillars of the aerospace industry, mainly aerospace manufacturing, MRO, system integrations, engineering & design training and education and research and technology.
NAICO as the office responsible for the overall development of aerospace industry in Malaysia emphasised the importance of strategic collaborations between the ministries and agencies especially during these unprecedented times if Malaysia aims to be the number-one aerospace country in South East Asia by 2030.
