A ‘Security Awareness Course’ was conducted with the Chief Government Security Office (CGSO) unit of the Prime Minister’s Department. CGSO is responsible for providing training and to increase awareness of the security and management of government assets. This includes physical assets, secrecy of information and documents, as well as official company and personnel documents. The two-day programme was designed to create awareness on the importance of managing confidential information and data and protecting it from possible threats. The staff was briefed on the the Offical Secrets Act 1972 relating to the protection of official & confidential information. The programme serves to ensure awareness of “Security Protection” and its proper management. This includes the protection of physical assets and all types of data comprising official information, documents and secrets, and any personnel information obtained officially. The consequences of improper management was also shared to ensure all processes and systems are in place and adhered to. Another major programme highlight is enhanced precaution in managing information and documentation to avoid possible external threats due to unauthorised access to government official secrets and information.
