SPOTLIGHT ON SCHOOLS Based within one of the UK capital’s renowned Royal Parks, Regent’s University London emphasises its industry connections and international diversity across a wide-ranging degree portfolio. Tim Banerjee Dhoul presents an overview

HISTORY Regent’s University London was founded as Regent’s College in 1984, when Rockford College, Illinois took over a campus previously held by Royal Holloway College and Bedford College. Other institutions soon began to take up residence there too, including the European Business School in 1985 and the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling in 1990. Regent’s Business School was set up in 1997, before the schools in residence merged to become Regent’s College London in 2006. The school became Regent’s University London in 2013, following its acquisition of taught- degree awarding powers and university status. COURSES Regent’s University London’s business and management portfolio encompasses 10 different master’s programmes, including degrees in international business and entrepreneurship. Also on offer are 11 bachelor’s degrees, including a BA in business and psychology and those that focus on luxury brand management and the intersection of technology and entrepreneurship. Programmes emphasise industry interaction, with CEOs and senior leaders of international brands the source of guest lectures, focus groups and real-life projects.

LOCATION Regent’s University London has an enviable location in central London, within the UK capital’s iconic Regent’s Park. Its 11-acre campus is leased directly from the Crown Estate and is therefore a hereditary possession of the UK’s current sovereign held “in right of the Crown”. Moments away from Marylebone’s boutique shops, cafés and restaurants, the campus comes with 24/7 security and even the offer of on-site student accommodation overlooking the park.
