Message From The General Manager

Dear Colleagues,

Warm greetings to each of you. As we welcome the first edition of “SHOO FEE MAA FEE” for 2025, I take this moment to reflect on the incredible spirit that defines who we are — not just as colleagues, but as a united family inspired by the Shangri-La values of humility, respect, sincerity, and care. It is with this spirit that continues to guide us as we shape extraordinary moments for our guests and contribute meaningfully to the world around us. The first quarter of the year had been filled with achievements that speak volumes about our shared commitment to excellence and our collective pursuit of purpose. We were proud to be named the “Best Place to Work 2024 – UAE” by Khaleej Times — a meaningful recognition that affirms the inclusive, nurturing, and empowering culture we have built together. This honour reflects the belief that when colleagues are valued and supported, they create environments of genuine warmth for those we serve. We also took great pride in representing our property at the UAE Lifeguard Championship 2025 in Dubai — a celebration of skill, teamwork, and professionalism. Our participants stood shoulder to shoulder with lifeguards from across the region, exemplifying the Shangri-La standard of excellence and preparedness in service and safety. Our culinary offerings continued to receive widely acclaimed awards with Sofra bld, Bord Eau, Shang Palace, and the Lobby Lounge earning recognition at both the What’s On Awards and Time Out Abu Dhabi Awards 2025. These accolades are a testament to the passion, creativity, and intentional collaboration of our Food and Beverage Division, who consistently transform dining into heartfelt experiences that reflect our brand essence of thoughtful hospitality. As we celebrated moments of cultural significance — from the festive joy of Chinese New Year to the reflective spirit of Ramadan — we brought our community together, creating cherished memories through traditions and shared experiences. Moments like these remind us that hospitality is not only about service —it’s about connection. We also deepened our commitment to inclusion and growth through a powerful women’s leadership workshop held in celebration of International Women’s Day. This inspiring event encouraged empowerment, dialogue, and reflection — reinforcing our belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, lead, and be heard. Fostering a workplace where every voice is valued remains a cornerstone of our continued success and a reflection of the inclusive spirit that defines our Shangri-La family. Our journey toward sustainability and social impact remains strong. As part of our ESG efforts, we participated in the ADCB Make-A-Wish Run 2025, helping fulfill the dreams of children facing critical health challenges. A team visit to Jubail Mangrove Park reinforced our understanding of the natural world and the importance in combating climate change. Our active role in Global Recycling Day with the Emirates Environmental Group further underscored our environmental responsibility. During Ramadan, we supported the 'One Million Surplus Meals' campaign with the UAE Food Bank and ne’ma , providing essential support to those in need. We also partnered with the Future Rehabilitation Centre for People of Determination, contributing to “The Museum of Imagination” — a deeply touching event where we celebrated the unique talents of young students through art and creative expression. By distributing snack boxes and being part of their joyful evening, we reaffirmed our promise to uplift and include every member of our broader community. Each of these initiatives embodies the Shangri-La Group’s purpose — to be the world’s most respected hospitality group by providing heartfelt service and contributing to the well-being of communities, people, and the planet. Your unwavering dedication, compassion, and professionalism are the pillars of our progress. As we look ahead, let us carry forward the momentum of this powerful start to 2025. Let us remain inspired by our purpose, driven by our values, and united in our commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for our guests and meaningful impact in the world.

It is my honour to lead this exceptional team, and I look forward with great excitement to everything we will accomplish together in the months ahead.

With sincere appreciation,

Ahmed Issa General Manager Shangri-La and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi

Rooted in Sustainability Our Mangrove Planting Initiative

As part of the ESG initiatives, we visited Jubail Mangrove Park to explore the vital role of mangroves in combating climate change. This annual visit serves as a meaningful opportunity to deepen awareness of mangrove conservation and actively contribute to environmental sustainability.

Guided by park rangers, colleagues embarked on a boardwalk tour, discovering the diverse ecosystems within the park, including mangrove habitats, intertidal mudflats, salt marshes, lagoon channels, and unique sandstone formations. As one of the planet’s most crucial ecosystems, mangroves play a key role in coast al protection, biodiversity support, and carbon absorption. Recognizing their importance, large- scale mangrove restoration efforts are expanding globally, including in Abu Dhabi’s Jubail M angrove Park. Each year, the team takes part in mangrove restoration efforts, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation. This initiative helps combat climate change, enrich marine habitats, and protect shorelines from erosion. In support of the UAE’s ambitious goal to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030, the team contributed by planting 30 new mangrove trees during this visit.

This ongoing initiative is a powerful reminder of the shared responsibility to protect and preserve the environment for future generations.
