Protection Team News SPORTS AND INSURANCE UPDATES So Close to a Threepeat
VOL 14, ISSUE 8
Last month, I wrote about the Lightning and the playoffs. Now, we all know they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals but ended up losing to the Colorado Avalanche in six games. The players gave everything they had, but it was just not meant to be a threepeat. The injuries they experienced in the long playoffs finally caught up to them. Colorado was a healthier team, and it showed on the ice. I am

start working as well as the resolution of the legal challenges so those changes can also help this situation. Fingers crossed. Speaking of the hurricane season, you still have a short amount of time to get your flood insurance purchased and in place. Please, don’t delay. Take care of it today. Remember the 30-day waiting period, so let’s get moving. You also need to make sure your hurricane plan is ready — especially your food and water. Since so many new people are living in the area who have never had to prepare for a storm, you know lines will be long and supplies limited. Just a quick note that the Rays are still fighting in the MLB East and have so many players on the injured list that you never know who will be on the field most nights. Let’s hope this baseball injury bug goes somewhere else so the team can get healthy for another playoff run this fall. Until next month, –Darren
NOT taking anything away from the team! They played with so many injuries that if this was during the regular season, many of them would NOT have been on the ice. Great job, Lightning! Now, the rebuilding process begins … It will not be long before we see who has left the roster due to salary cap issues. I’m glad I do not have to make those tough decisions. Only time will tell their impact … Another insurance company has bitten the dust. The streak continues with the loss of about one insurance company every 45 days, even with the recent legislative changes. Do I think this is done? NO, but I hope it will ease some as we get ready to enter the busiest part of hurricane season. The industry is truly on the verge of collapse if a big storm hits Florida this year. It would be catastrophic for everyone! The insurance rates on property would skyrocket so high that it would force many people into bankruptcy or foreclosure — something I don’t want to see. We need a very quiet storm season this year to give the legislative reforms time to

MOVE OVER, LIFE INSURANCE! Final Expense Insurance Has Many Benefits! The loss of a loved one is an emotional and difficult time. Final expense insurance, commonly referred to as burial insurance, helps families cope with the loss by covering end-of-life expenses such as funeral arrangements and remaining medical and legal expenses. The cost of burial expenses alone can climb exponentially, especially when you begin to factor in the cost of a casket, burial plot, service, and headstone — it’s not uncommon to spend anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 during this stressful grieving period. An alternative to traditional life insurance, final expense insurance is an affordable way to offer your family financial protection after you pass away, and the approval process is simple and quick! While many types of life insurance require a medical exam, final expense insurance does not, and the premiums are typically very low and do not increase over time. While life insurance policies may take weeks or even months to pay out to your loved ones after your passing, final expense insurance will typically provide funds to your beneficiaries within 24–48 hours after you pass away. This is extremely
BASED ON A TRUE STORY … Why True Stories Became a TV Craze Television and streaming platforms are attracting millions of viewers with their true story films and shows. Television shows like “Pam and Tommy,” “Inventing Anna,” and “Tiger King” have drawn in viewers with their captivating storylines and lookalike actors. Something about knowing the events you’re watching actually happened to real people is mesmerizing. True Crime No one really wants to admit it, but humans have a natural morbid curiosity. True crime’s sequence of events — the crime, victims, hunt, and capture (hopefully) — really carries the plot and captures the viewer’s attention. As real life tragedies are more documented and accessible than ever before, true crime has become sort of a guideline for some. When you watch crime documentaries and shows, you may think to yourself about what not to do in certain scenarios. Though the person in the story was in an unfortunate situation, people can learn the signs of a dangerous scenario and know when to leave or not make the same mistakes. Real-Life Inspiration True stories interest people because they show viewers something that is not merely a filmmaker’s imagination. In most films and shows, it begins as a fictional thought, but with true stories, people may find a certain situation or character they can connect with in their own lives. People search for answers — if it is something they can relate to — and find comfort in the fact that other people may have faced similar challenges. You want to root for the underdog, as these seemingly normal characters develop into extraordinary people. The real people from these true stories inspire viewers with their bravery and grit. Television and streaming platforms are able to take true stories and pique their viewers’ curiosity by reflecting life itself. You might be able to pick up a thing or two when watching true stories. There are some harsh realities people may face, but there are definitely good ones, too.

Keep More Money in Your Wallet With These Money-Saving Tricks In today’s day and age, we could all use a little bit more money in our pockets, but it can be difficult to know where and when to cut back to increase savings. Oftentimes, we spend our money on smaller things throughout each week and then wonder where our paycheck went. If you want to start saving more, you must make some lifestyle changes. Below, you will find three easy-to-implement ways to keep more money in your wallet. Prepare more meals at home. How many times a week do you eat at a restaurant or get coffee from your local coffee shop? While it might not seem like much when you’re spending $3–$7 at a time, it can add up quickly. Cook more meals at home and prepare your coffee before you leave the house so you aren’t tempted to stop and get some on your way to work. You can also meal prep to remove your temptation to eat lunch at a restaurant. Utilize the 30-day rule. When you want to make a purchase that costs more than $100, do you buy it right then or wait so you have time to really decide if you need the product? If you act immediately, you’ve likely bought some things in the past you never even used. Take some time to think about your purchasing decisions when buying an expensive item. If you still believe you want or need the item after 30 days, then there’s a good chance you’ll need and use it. Stick to your budget. If you feel like you’re always short on money, you should take some time to figure out exactly where your money is going. You’ll then need to create a budget so you aren’t spending money on unnecessary purchases. The most important part of managing your budget is sticking to it. Make a list whenever you go to the store — and don’t stray from it.
