Recovery House Begins with the Heart of one Man … The heart and soul of Recovery House dates back to 1986 when founder, John Hagan, began taking homeless men with substance abuse issues into his personal residence to help them start a new life. Over time he found himself purchasing homes in the community to provide low cost rental options to those struggling to re-establish their independence. John Hagan won his battle with drug and alcohol addition. Today he holds a B.S. Degree in Social Work, and is a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP). Under his supervision Recovery House delivers a Therapeutic Community Program model with work therapy at its core principal. John Hagan has also developed business partners that hire participants, who have successfully completed their In response to an overwhelming need John Hagan found a way to purchase the Lake Minnie Drive residential facility in 1995. This facility currently houses up to 48 men in emergency shelter and transitional living programs. Mr. Hagan was able to Incorporate as The Recovery House of Central Florida in 1997 and obtained our 501(c) designation in 2000. recovery, with full time jobs including benefits. Recovery House Growth Driven by Passion and Ingenuity Recovery House has continued it’s success over the years with the passion, ingenuity with with support of self-sacrificing volunteers and do-it-yourself solutions. The passion and ingenuity from our volunteers has supported our mission, giving us the ability to accomplish great things, often by short-cutting on standards and formalities. While Recovery House has accomplished much during this period the demand for transitional living programs and emergency shelters for men continues to grow.
