Hivekit, a US-based mining technology company, which recently announced OPS.AI, a new technology that proactively coordinates and optimises mine operations, is eyeing entry into the African continent, targeting South Africa and Tanzania as its first points of entry.
M odern Mining recently caught up with Hivekit CEO, Wolfram Hempel, to chat about the benefits of its innovative technology and its progress into the continent. Hivekit is an operations platform for modern mines, w hich combines real-time visibility, AI-assisted planning, and short interval control into one connected system. Its platform creates a live 3D digital twin of surface and underground operations, bringing together equipment from multiple vendors, tracking data, and operational schedules to connect long-term mine plans with real-time shift execution. “What the Hivekit platform does exceptionally well is integrate large volumes of highly diverse data and systems into a single operational view, which is particularly valuable in mining because mines have a complex mix of technologies and equipment. The platform brings all a site’s data together in one place, including assets, vehicles, people, sensors, and systems such as dewatering and ventilation, as well as geospatial data, mine plans, and other site systems. It also connects to supporting systems such as maintenance, HR, skills matrices, and the like.” According to Hempel, the company starts on a site by identifying a critical path or bottleneck, then integrates the systems and data needed to address it. This usually involves tracking key assets and working closely with planners and supervisors to understand existing workflows
