The best time to see the cattle being judged is from Monday 7 to Saturday 12 August, with the small breeds taking to the Main Arena on Friday 18 August. The Ekka’s Prime Beef Competition is being held at Silverdale Saleyards on Thursday 10 August, with more than 130 head of cattle entered (plus an additional 18 head in the JBS Jap Ox class). New this year are Single Heifer classes which have been introduced to reflect industry changes.
