Ekka Media Kit 2023

This year marks the 144th anniversary of the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) presented by RACQ bringing the country and city together in a true celebration of agriculture. Since the first Show in 1876, the Ekka has championed Queensland’s agriculture and industry and the vital role they play in our everyday lives and community. The Show made its historic return in 2022 following two years of cancellations, with more than 345,000 people coming through the gates. With the events sector back in full swing after the Covid-19 pandemic disruption, Queensland’s largest community event is expected to be well attended this year by more than 400,000 people. Competition entry numbers for our 46 sections from beef cattle to cakes have now returned to pre-pandemic levels, with more than 21,000 entries received. Our competitions, some of which have taken place for more than 100 years, are the heart and soul of the Show. We are thrilled to recognise and reward our exhibitors, who year in year out, produce the best of the best, with many in rural areas battling drought and floods to do so. The Ekka will also continue to support and educate the next generation of Queenslanders through a revamped education program this year. An education stage has been introduced to the 2023 Show, in addition to the amazing interactive agricultural learning experiences the state’s largest classroom already offers. The stage will feature educational presentations for children, from learning about heathy and nutritious food to pollination and gardening. As a not-for-profit organisation, the RNA has been mindful of rising cost of living pressures and providing families with value for money so Ekka can be enjoyed on any budget. Rides are a major attraction at the Ekka and for the first time in the Show’s history, visitors will be able to enjoy two for one rides every morning of Show from 9am to 10.30am. The Ekka is also once again offering four special Super Saver Days of Show - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - which are 20 per cent cheaper than weekends and the public holiday. The Ekka Media Kit provides a snapshot of this year’s Show including the new additions, highlights and a full daily program. The RNA sincerely appreciates the tremendous coverage provided by the media and we look forward to welcoming you to this year’s Ekka.
