Around the Grounds
Dagwood Dogs You know it’s show time when you see golden Dagwood Dogs dipped in tomato sauce at vendors across the grounds. Grab yours at King Dagwood and various other vendors around the grounds for an authentic Ekka experience. Take the time to chow down on this show favourite, preferably while sitting back and watching entertainment on the Main Area. Strawberry Sundaes There are two good reasons behind the fact that more than 130,000 iconic Strawberry Sundaes are consumed during Ekka each year. Firstly, it is because the Ekka Strawberry Sundaes are irresistible with their cone accommodating five delicious layers including smooth vanilla ice cream, fresh Queensland strawberries, a large scoop of strawberry ice cream, and swirls of fresh cream topped off with a whole ripe strawberry. The second reason is because these humble sundaes raise pivotal funds for The Common Good to aid life-changing medical research and are served to you with the help of generous volunteers. So be sure to treat your taste buds and your sense of goodwill to one of these sweet strawberry treats found at several locations around grounds.
