More than a display of artefacts and photos, it’s a chance to walk through history, connect with generations of memories and experience the spirit of the Ekka. Don’t just read about the past – explore it, feel it, and become part of the story. Upstairs in the 7NEWS Community Pavilion, the walkthrough installation will feature a series of relics, a 12-metre heritage wall layered and aged decade by decade, interactive television sets presenting archival footage, a Hall of Living Legends showcasing some of the champions who built the Ekka, and vintage dodgem cars for the perfect Ekka 2026 photo moment. Designed for all ages, the Ekka 150 – From the Ground Up Exhibition is a must see for all visitors.
The Royal Queensland Show—affectionately known as Ekka—is Queensland’s largest and most loved annual event, attracting around 400,000 visitors each year. In 2026, Ekka marks a remarkable milestone: 150 years of bringing country and city together to celebrate agriculture, community and connection. This anniversary honours the Show’s rich heritage, recognises the people and communities who make it possible, and inspires future generations to create their own Ekka memories. Presented by the RNA over nine days each August at its original home, the Brisbane Showgrounds, Ekka showcases the very best of Queensland. The event enjoys around 21,000 competition entries—from woodchopping to quilting—over 10,000 animals, including beef cattle, cats and dogs, world- class entertainment, award-winning food and beverages, carnival rides, showbags, retail experiences, and a wide range of educational activities. First held in 1876, this iconic event is steeped in tradition and atmosphere and is the birthplace of many cherished memories that have been shared across generations of Queensland and Australian families.
