be entered In the book reg ister, the same as a book (perhaps “F - l ” ). It is no t necessary to classify th e loose m a te rial a t all in the file as it will be classified in th e index book, and th e number of a given clipping entered exactly as if it was th e page of a book. Memorandum books containing w ritten notes, bound or unbound volumes of magazines, or in fact anything in which th e re is found something deemed of fu tu re value, may be reg istered in the book reg ister as a book, and anything in them readily located when wanted. It is possible -for one to work out a filing system on th e same plan although it would necessarily be on a smaller scale. An o rd in ary index book may be used to list one’s books, and other plain note books ruled fo r topics or texts, b u t we recommend th e W ilson book as th e cheapest and most satisfacto ry in th e end, as it combines everything in one book and is good for a lifetim e of gatherings. Our last word is— BEGIN EARLY to tabu late your m aterial. I t is a hope less ta sk when years of m aterial has accumulated. BIBLE CAN’T BE MAN’S WORD The Bible is proved to be th e Word of God when it is shown NOT to be the word of m an; and it is proved not to be the word of man when it is shown to be— not such a book as man WOULD w rite if he COULD; nor such a book as man COULD w rite if he WOULD. T h at it is not the word of man— not such a book as man would w rite if he could, is made clear enough by th e pic tu re it paints of th e n a tu ra l man. It is not th e picture th e n atu ra l man paints of himself. The p icture which th e Bible paints of sin is no t such a p icture as th e n a tu ra l man has ever painted. The Bible concept of holiness is no t th e concept of n a tu ra l man. That th e Bible is no t th e word of man is

shown by its statem en ts of accurate science,, w ritten before men became scientific, and while as yet n a tu ra l sci ence did not exist. T hat the Bible did no t come from man is seen in th e fact of fulfilled prophecy. It is th e Word of God.— L M. Haldeman. THE BOOK THAT STAYS When H enry Morton Stanley started across the continent of Africa, he had seventy-three books in ■th ree packs, weighing one hundred and eighty pounds. A fter he had gone th ree hun dred m iles; he was obliged to throw away some of hte books, .through the fatigue of those carrying his baggage. As he continued on his journey, in like m anner his lib rary grew less and less, un til he had b u t one book left. You can imagine its name1—th e Bible. I t is said th a t he read th a t book through th ree times during the journey. A SEARCH WARRANT A Roman-Catholic priest in Ireland, discovered a peasant reading th e Bible, and reproved him for d aring to peruse a book forbidden tp th e laity. The peasant proceeded to ju stify him self by a reference to th e contents of the book, and th e holy doctrines which it taught.- The p riest replied, th a t th e doctrines could only be understood by the learned, and th a t igno ran t men would w rest them to th e ir own destruction. “B u t,” said th e peasant, “ I am au th o r ized, your reverence, to read th e Bible: I have a search -w arran t.” “W hat do you mean, sir? ” said th e priest, in anger. “Why,” replied th e peasant, “ Jesus Christ says,, ‘Search th e Scrip tu res; for in them ye th in k ye have etern al life: and they are they which testify of me.’ ” The argum en t was unanswerable.
