431 Christ; it is the increase of Christ and the decrease of self. Then th e final step is, “Let Him come unto me and d rink .” The simplicity of th is is staggering. Many imagine they have to go th rough horrible experi ences for a long tim e and a fte r th a t they will be overflowingly filled. Let us get back to th e simplicity of Christ. Don’t pu t up any h arriers between you and th is blessing. You are th irstin g ; th a t’s all you need. Come to Christ. Believe He is able and w illing to over flowingly fill you. Surrender fully to th e ligh t you have and take and drink. And keep on drinking, and th e more you drink th e more you will overflow and, Glory to God, the more you will desire to drink of the inexhaustible fullness of th e Lord. The overflow is no t determ ined by our capacity, b u t by ou t attitud e. We can no t hold very much, b u t we can all overflow plenty. F inally, I believe th a t Christ has im posed on all his disciples a life of active benevolence; th a t he, Who refrain s oiily from w hat he th ink s to be sinful, has perform ed b u t a part, and a small p art, of his duty; th a t he is bound to do good and communicate; to love his neighbor; to give food and d rink to his enemy; and to endeavor, as far as in him lies, to promote peace, tru th , piety and hap piness, in a wicked and forlorn world; believing, th a t in the g reat day, which is to come, th ere will be no other stand ard of merit, no o th er criterion of char acter, th a n th a t which is already estab lished—By th e ir fru its ye shall know them .
THE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S Root. So many are w anting the feel ings or experience before they believe, and are therefore held in bondage and prevented from experiencing such a life. S atan ’s method is: F irst, Feeling; then F act, and lastly F aith . God’s method is: F irst, F a ith ; then Fact, and th e resu lt will be Feelings. The devil always trie s to reverse God’s order of things. Get away from your search for feel ings and dare to believe God can and God will overflowingly fill you. I would ra th e r depend on God’s faithfulness th an feelings. God has promised and He must. Then we must rem ember it is not an isolated ac t of faith, b u t the continued a ttitu d e of th e life. The prom ise is, “He th a t keeps rig h t on be lieving.” Feelings or no feelings we continue believing, and when God sees th a t we are believers in deed and tru th He will give us all th e feelings we could desire. The next step is th a t we must en th rone Christ. John 7:39. “ But this spake he of th e Spirit, which they th a t believe on him should receive, for the Holy Ghost was no t yet given; because th a t Jesus was not yet glorified (or en th ro n e d ).” I know th a t in its h istorical appli cation it refers to His ascension, but in its personal application it refers to th e en thronem ent of Christ in our h earts and lives. There is a difference between accession to th e h ea rt and be ing crowned in th e life. King George of G reat B ritain ascended th e throne, and was king a year before his coronation. If you are saved, Jesus is in your h eart, b u t has He been crowned Lord of all there? There are m ultitudes of lives in which Christ has gained accession, b u t if you are to know th is overflowing life, th ere m ust be a coronation. Christ m ust be en th roned ; He m ust be pu t on the throne of your life and your love and be crowned King. T h at fullness is not for my glorification, b u t it is to glorify
