Sin T ransform s In to a Savage. I t is said th a t a w ild man appeared in th e forests of Galicia and was a te r­ ro r to th e inh ab itan ts of th a t section. A fter he was captured and washed and shaven, he was recognized as a man who had a t one tim e held a high public office in A ustria. He had moved in the highest circles, b u t finally embezzled a large sum of money. To escape justice he to o k refuge in th e fo rest and his w andering made him a vagabond and a savage. Sin Binds. A m inister was talk ing to a man in th e inqu iry room. The man said. “My h e a rt is so hard, it seems as if it was chained, and I cannot come.” “Oh,” said the m inister, “Come along, chain and all.” Sin W ill Out. They had sinned; become outlaw s; deserved ever­ lasting separation from God, b u t God loved them and brought them back into a new relationship w ith Himself. Before th e foundation of the world, God had planned for. the death of His Son, and the bloody sacrifice by which they were to be provided w ith clothing. As soon as sin came into th e world, God’s plan for the sinner is made plain. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) The fru it of Eden’s tree brought death, b u t the fru it of Calvary’s tree brings life. (2) One act of sin involved th e world in suffering; one act of the Sav­ iou r provides th e world w ith sal­ vation. (3 ) The end of sin, is sinning. (4) A question m ark (? ) about the Bible, by its very shape suggests th e serpent. (5 ) You can trace th e slime of th e serpent th rough th e centuries. (6 ) A h alf tru th is th e devil’s lie. (7 ) Even th e devil was not fool enough to deny the existence of God. (8 ) God loathes sin, b u t He loves the sinner. (9 ) The devil is th e fath e r of lies, and th e higher critics are his chil­ dren. (10) Adam fell headlong and hellward. (11) The story of sin in simple words; Satan, suggestion, surrender, sin, separation, sentence, sorrow , suf­ fering. Jerem y Taylor said, “No sin is small.
