people living in th is world became very wicked. Their h earts were filled w ith sinful thoughts, and all the things they did were evil, for they did no t care to please God, or even try to obey Him. God was angry w ith these people for they had done so many wicked things, He had to punish them . Among all these very wicked people th e re was one good man whose name was Noah. The Bible says Noah walked w ith God, which means he pleased God, because he obeyed God. Noah had a wife and th ree sons, and his th ree sons also had wives, so let us count on our Angers and see how many people were in Noah’s family. E igh t people, and God told Noah th a t although He m ust pun ish all th e wicked people, He would not punish him and his family. Then God asked Noah to do a very strang e thing. He told Noah to build an ark , which was a very large boat, w ith rooms in it and th ree stories high. There was to be a door in one side and a window high up. God told Noah He was going to send a g reat flood upon the earth by m aking it rain for 40 days and 40 nights w ithout stopping, and th e w ater would be so deep th a t th e highest hills' and mountains would be covered. He told Noah when th e A rk was finished he was to take his wife and his th ree sons and th e ir wives and go into the A rk; and to tak e in also two of every kind of beast, birds and insects, to keep them alive while th e flood should be on the ea rth ; for all th a t were not in th e A rk would be drowned. Now it was hard for Noah to sta rt building th is big boat-A rk— rig h t on dry ground, and no sign of rain or w ater any where, and b rig h t sunshine every day, bu t Noah tru ste d God and obeyed Him, even though many of th e people laughed at Noah and his sons and made fun of them as they worked away each day building th e Ark, and it was a good th ing Noah did obey God, for ju s t listen w hat happened. I t took a long tim e to build th e Ark, and Noah did some-
trolled, up righ t lives, obedient to God, looking for th a t blessed hope,” the re tu rn of the Lord Jesus in glory to a redeemed earth . Christians deal not only w ith th e p resen t b u t w ith the fu tu re. We are living for etern ity and our instruction for th is life must be gotten in th e school of God’s grace. How far have you gone in these stu dies? We m ust learn tru s t in ' God and we m ust learn hum ility for “ God giveth grace to th e humble,” and we m ust learn perseverance too. God’s grace should ever spur us on to service. “ God is able to make all grace abound unto you; th a t ye—may abound unto every good w ork.” We ought never to be satisfied w ith w hat we have done or content w ith w h at we are doing. If you are, will you no t ponder .2 P eter 3:18, for we are bidden to “ grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” ' Let us press on to g reater things. How God Saved Noah from th e Flood. Gen. 6:8-22. (Read chap. 7 and 8.) Memory Verse: “ But Noan round favor in th e eyes of Jehovah.” Gen. 6 : 8 .
