Central Washington University Board of Trustees October 22, 2026 Action – Academic Year 2027-2028 Tuition Increase Approval
Washington State law limits the amount that CWU is allowed to increase resident undergraduate tuition to the 14-year average of wage inflation, which is currently 3.3 percent. This Board has discretion on setting other tuition rates (non-resident undergraduate, resident, and non-resident graduate). We recommend up to a 3.3 percent increase for all tuition types (resident/non-resident undergraduate and resident/non-resident graduate) for academic year 2027-2028. The table below shows the annual increase across all careers and residencies at a 3.3% across the board increase. Tuition FY 2027 Tuition FY 2028 *Difference Resident Undergraduate $7,716 $7,971 $255 Non-Resident Undergraduate $27,041 $27,933 $892 Resident Graduate $11,772 $12,160 $388 Non-Resident Graduate $27,579 $28,489 $910 Resident CoB Graduate $14,718 $15,204 $486 *Fulltime Student per year
We recommend the following motion:
The Board of Trustees of Central Washington University hereby approves up to 3.3 percent increase for all tuition categories (resident/non-resident undergraduate and resident/non- resident graduate) for academic year 2027-2028.
