has been blessing in the work since the last word from us.

oldest boy, nineteen years of age, was the sole support of the family since the father had been taken North. Here was a place where Christianity could be presented in a very practical manner, so we made it our point to help. After leaving them some supplies and some money we came home, prom– ·ising to call and see them in the very near future. Calling upon our friends who were interested in this kind of work, provision was made for more gro– ceries, some new overalls for the boys that they might go to school, etc. In a few Clays we went to see them again . This time the mother was up, but the oldest boy (who as I said was the sole support of the family) was in bed with the flu. Nevertheless, we found them very thankful for the provision that had been made; and then we were able to present the plan of salvation and show them that, because "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life," as the result of this gift. real friends had been raised up whn had given In like manner that th ey might come to know the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior. Pray for this work, for oftentimes we are pressed for the practical needs, that we might point others to "the Lamb of God that beareth away the sin of the world." Is it any wonder that I call you a11:ain to prayer, and close by saying PRAY?

As space is limited we will tell you but one of the many instances in which God has led us this past month, hoping that as you read you will be inspired to greater prayer for this work, in which you are having such a large part. Down at one of the shops the other day we were given the name of one of the men who had been sick for some time. No one appeared to know just what was the trouble, so we immediate– ly made It our business to look him up, and found that he had been so sick as to require being sent to the S. P. Gen– eral Hospital in San Francisco, and were told that he was liable to be there for some time, as his heart was in a very serious condition. We immediately thought of his fam– ily. Reaching their home, we founri they were in real need. Oftentimes we can do more effective preaching by the practical ministration of supplies than if we preachPd for hours without giving such help. This was one of the times when we had the privilege of helng a hclp. ~ We found that there were Pleven children in the family. We were greet– ed at the door by a boy of fourteen; en– tering, we found the mother sick In bed, next to her the three-month-old baby, next to this baby a child of two, and next to this child of two another child of four, and at the foot a six-year-old child! There they were, all in that one
