THE KING'S BUSINESS

to know He was always welcome to en– ter this home, where He could rest; you know In those days It was not so easy to go from place to place as today, and J esus walked from one place to another. One day Jesus was at this home in Bethany, and the sisters were preparing the dinner. Martha was so busy with the dinner she did not have any time to talk to Jesus, but Mary was so interested in what Jesus was saying, she did not spend much time in getting a big dinner. Martha came to J esus and asked Him If He did not think Mary ought to help more with the dinner? Jesus answered Martha by telling her she was worried and troubled about many things, but that Mary had chosen the good part. Then Martha saw that Jesus cares more about our learning of Jesus and his love, than putting all our time In fix– ing things to eat and to look fine. We want to remember the words Jesus said about Mary, for that Is onr mem– ory verse. This Is far better than a fairy story, for It Is true, and the King of kings often came to the little home in Bethany, and think of the blessing that came to that home. Even the dead brother brought back to life. Are we loyal friends of Jesus, and have we In– vited him to come and live In our hearts? Closing Prayer.

nold's Practical Commentary. Lesson Story.-We all love to have friends, real friends that love us and come to see us, and are always ready to help us in any way they can. Today we are to hear about two loyal friends of Jesus, when He was living down here on this earth. These two friends lived In the little town of Bethany, which was near the city of Jerusalem, and we who live In Southern California have about the same kind of a climate, and enjoy the same kind of fruits, such as grapes, figs and olives. We would feel very much at home as we looked at the beautiful palm trees and the moun– tains. These two friends of Jesus had a home here in the beautiful little town of Bethany. The names of these two friends were Martha and Mary, the sis– ters of Lazarus, whom we remember Jesus raised from the dead. Now I wonder if we all know that Jesus did not mave any home of his own while he stayed down here on earth. His home was In heaven, and God sent him down here to tell the people of God and bis love for them. We learn bow J esus went about from place to place telling the people how they could be saved from their sins, by believing on Him (Jesus) . He healed the sick, raised the dead, and fed the hungry. We read in the Bible how he was often tired and hungry. Boys and girls, I am so glad Martha and Mary invited Jesus to their home. They did not just in– vite Him once or twice, but they want– ed Him to come as often as he wished, any time he was passing that way. O how much it must have meant to Jesus

l\fiSS HAVERGAL'S LOST OPPORTUNITY

"I ought to have been yours," said a bright, happy girl to Miss Havergal. "What do you mean?" was the reply. "When I was seeking the Saviour, I put myself In your way several times, hop– ing that you would speak to me about this matter, but you did not speak to me, and another led me to the Saviour." Miss Havergal never forgot that lesson. -The Christian Herald.
