Then Peter, who had a sword, thought it time to fight for Jesus, so he cut off the ear of Malchus, the servant of the High Priest. Jesus said, "Put up your sword, Peter. Shall I not do what God my Father wants me to do?" Jesus then touched the ear and put It back in its place on the man's head. They had come with torches; the soldiers had spears, and there were many enemies of Jesus with them, who had sticks and staves, ex– pecting that either Jesus would fight, or His disciples would.
