THE KING'S BUSINES'S
ever blessed Lord. The first question Lesson:
I
We are to study today about two friends or Jesus. The li.lsciples had all lert Him, except John, because the Jews were putting Him to death and they were afraid. What are the names of these two men? (Joseph and Nico· demus.) (vs. 38-39) Do you remember anything about Nicodemus? Did Nicodemus go to see Jesus In the day time? Why did he come by night? (Afraid of the Jews.) What did Jesus tell him he must do? (3 :3) Now the disciples are afraid and he Is not. What did they do with the body of Jesus? (v. 40) Why did they use spices? (That was the custom of the Jews and helped to preserve the body.) Where did they put His body? (vs. 41-42) Was it near the place where He was crucified? (v. 42) Wasn't it nice that someone was there to care for His body? If we Jove Him wlll we ever see Him? (1 John 3:2) Do you know any boys and girls who do not love Him? Won't you try and give them a Gos– pel and pray for them? Story: A short time ago a little ten-year-old boy went out to invite the neighbor– hood women to a Women's Bible Class, and at one house the woman said to him, "Go away, I don't want to go to church or Bible class. I don't like Christians." The little boy was very nice and said, "Perhaps you would be wllllng to read this Gospel of John," and handed it to her. The woman was surprised. She read the Gospel. She went to the class and accepted Christ as her Saviour and joined a church. That was a wise boy, because he showed
Pilate put to Him was "Art Thou the King of the Jews?" This was the burn– ing question with Pilate. A Roman his– torian, Suetonius, reports that about that time a rumor was circulating that a king would arise from among the Jews who would control the whole world. The Lord answered: "My kingdom is not of this world; if My kingdom were of this world, then ~ould my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews, but now is M:y kingdom not from hence." This does not mean that there is not to be an earthly kingdom, but it means that in Its origin, In Its nature and In Its purpose, it is not of this world. When it comes it will be the kingdom or heaven, set up from above by the re– turn of the King. When Pilate asked Him again, "Thou art then a king?" He answered in the affirmative. He came into the world to bear witness to the Truth. And the sceptical Roman said, as the infidel still saith (including the destructive critic). "What Is Truth?" Blessed answer we have! The One who stood before Pilate said elsewhere, "I am the Truth." Poor, miserable Pilate released the murderer Barabbas, as demanded by the Jews, and the Holy Son of God took the place of this vile sinner on the cross, as He took our place as our substitute. ~ ·~ THE JUNIORS TWO FRIENDS OF JESUS John 19:38-42 Review: Where was Jesus, the Lamb or God, In our last lesson? Who stood by the cross as He died? (v. 25) Who else was there? (v. 26) Why did Jesus love him? Does Jesus love you? Do you love Him as your Saviour? How can we know that He loves us now? (John 14:2, 3)
