THE KING'S BUSINESS
a real Christian spirit and did it all so nicely. Memory Verse: "Ye are my friends, if ye do whatso– ever I command you."-John 15: 14." ii ii (Speak of Peter's denial.) After Jesus had been arrested, He was taken to the High Priest's palace, where He was badly treated. They determined to find something that would make It easy to have Jesus crucified. They asked, "Art thou the Christ?" He said, "Yes." "Art thou the Son of God?" Jesus said Yes, to that. These answers made them very mad. He ought to die for saying He was the Christ, the Son of God, but they could not kill Him. They took Him to Pilate the governor, saying that He stirred up trouble wherever He went, telling the people not to pay taxes, and saying He was Christ, the Son of God, and King of the Jews, and He ought to die. Pilate took Jesus Into the court room and questioned Him. "Art thou the King of the Jews?" "Yes, but not of this world," said Jesus. Pilate could find no fault in Jesus and knew that they wanted Jesus killed because they hated Him. Pilate said, "I find no cause for death In Him;" but they cried out, "Crucify him!" Pilate questioned Jesus again, asking, "Art thou a king?" Jesus said He was King of Truth, and all who loved the Truth would listen to Him. Pilate came out and said, "I find In Him no fault at all. I will punish Him and let him go. You have a custom that I release a prisoner at the Passover, and whom shall I release unto you, Barabbas, or Jesus which Is called Christ?" For Pi– late knew they hated Jesus. But they cried out, "Not this man but Barabbas!" "What shall I then do with Jesus which Is called Christ?" "Crucify him! crucify PRIMARY Kate H. Haus
!rim!" they cried. When Pilate saw they were bound to have Jesus crucified, he took water, washed his hands so all could see him saying, "I am Innocent of the blood of this Just person: see ye to It." The Jews cried, "His blood be upon us and our children." That was a terrible thing to say for that Is the reason the Jews are hated so, and have been ever since. Then Pilate had Jesus scourged, and handed over to be cruci– fied. Pilate was just as guilty as the Jews for he had the power to let Jesus go. Memol'y Ve,.se: "He is despised and rejected ot men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not." Isa. 63:3. Every time we purposely think, say, or do a wrong thing, we are acting as the enemies or Jesus did. That ls just what Satan loves to see us do, and he will help us act that way every time he gets the chance. So let us be very care– ful about our conduct. Let us be watchful and prayer(ul. Remember this, one cannot do wrong purposely, without being called one who rejects Christ, and that makes Jesus very sad, and fills His heart with grief. When we do wrong things, we hide our faces from Jesus. It shows Satan that we don't care what Jesus wants, we are going to do as we please. Such con– duct shows we do not esteem Jesus as we should, and It pleases Satan to see It.
