THE KING'S BUSINESS
Him, as to a King, They struck Him, spit on Him, and said, "Hall, King of the Jews! But Jesus never said a word. Jesus looked so sad and miserable that Pilate took Him out where the people might see Him, thinking the Jews might feel sorry for Him when they saw Him so badly treated, and be willing to have Him released. Pilate said, " I bring Him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault In Him. Behold the man!" When Jesus' enemies saw Him they cried out, "Crucify him! crucify him!" Pilate said, "Take Him and crucify Him for I find no fault in Him." The J ews answered, "By our law He ought to die for He called Himself the Son of God." When Pilate heard that he was afraid, and asked Jesus, "Where did you come from?" J esus did not answer. Pilate said, "Don't you know that I have the power to crucify you, or let you go free?" Jesus said, "You could do noth– ing against Me if God did not let you: those that brought Me to you are the greater sinners." After that Pilate wanted to let J esus go, but the J ews said, "If you let this man go, you are not a friend of Caesar, the Emperor. Whoever makes Himself a King speaks aganlst Caesar." Now they hated Caesar, but they wanted J esus killed, so they pretended to be great friends of Caesar. Then Pilate brought J esus out, saying, "Behold your King!" They cried out, "Away with Him! Away with Him!" Pilate said, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." Pilate knew they were lying, but he saw they would have Jesus crucified, so he delivered Jesus to be crucified, and the soldiers led Him away. Memory Verse: "We will not have this man to reign over us." Lk. 19 :14. How many today are saying what those Jews said, who hated J esus; "we will not have J esus to rule us." ones, careless ones, those who use bad language, or smoke cigarettes, or drink liquor, lie, steal, murder, or do any thing they know Is wrong, are saying by what they do, "I will not have Jesus to rule my heart." So let us all pray that we may not do any bad thing, but try to please J esus In all that we do. WHAT'S YOUR RECORD? Dr. G. Campbell Morgan once stated that he had read the Bible from begln– ing to end at pulpit rate in sixty hours. A corr espondent of the Church Family Newspaper made the same experiment, and completed his reading in seventy– six hours, which was spread over a period of eighty-one days. He states that, If ordinary people devoted half as much time to the Bible as they give to a newspaper, they could easily read the Bible through in three months without undue effort. He adds: "How many Christians are there who have never read the Bible through once? Yet at my slow rate of reading it can be read through comfortably In a year at the r ate of fifteen minutes a day." -The Bible In the World.
