Introduction by Prof. Robert Dick Wilson, Ph. D., D. D., LL. D. A historical romance of the times of the prophet Isaiah. Robert Dick Wilson, Prof., of Semitic Lauguages, Princeton, N. J . says: "Within the limits of a foreword it Is impossible adequately to do justice to the scholarship and intrinsic worth of such a work as this: but, without flat– tery, it can safely be asserted that Mr. Schapiro has presented in a singularly fascinating way in its English dress, the greatest novel that bas ever been produced in the Hebrew language. To say more would be like painting the lily or refining pure gold." 1Wm. I. Haven, D. D., Gen. Sec., American Bible Society, New York City, says: "Every minister in this country would profit by the reading of this volume and many of the teach– ers and scholars in our Sunday Schools would have a more vital idea of Jewish life and history and Jewish ideals by reading this book than by hours of study with commentaries, etc." J . Ross Stevenson, D. D., Pres. of the Theological Seminary, Princeton, N. J. writes: "It seems to me that you have done a wonderful piece of work in the trans– lation of this highly dramatic and yet stately and vivid old story.
