A BOUT THE A UTHOR As a former stockbroker, Gregory E. Von Tobel has been involved in full- time prison missionary work for over thirty-four years. He is the founder and president of Prisoners For Christ Outreach Ministries (PFC), a ministry dedicated to taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the jails, prisons, and juvenile institutions not only in Washington State but also worldwide. PFC has field offices in eighteen foreign countries, including Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo – DRC, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Russia, Rwanda, Sierra Leonne, Tanzania, The Philippines, Togo, and Uganda. PFC’s volunteers worldwide conduct more than 751 church services
and Bible studies per month, more than 24 services per day. PFC’s national Bible Study Correspondence School has over 2,200 inmates on its student-body roster. Also, PFC’s national inmate newspaper, Yard Out , is sent to over 1,200 prison institutions nationally. In addition, PFC has over 1,400 volunteers in the ministry worldwide in some capacity, coming from over one-hundred different churches. Mr. Von Tobel was a stockbroker for eleven years, from 1978 through 1989, for various firms, including EF Hutton & Co. and Shearson Lehman Brothers, when God called him into full-time prison ministry work. On May 14, 1990, God closed one chapter of his life, and on the following day, May 15, 1990, God opened up a whole new chapter. As of 1984, Greg has been ministering in Washington State jails and prisons, six years on a volunteer basis, and the last thirty-four years as a full-time missionary to those incarcerated. Mr. Von Tobel has also served on the Governor’s Panel of the Department of Corrections’ Religious Services Advisory Council, assisting the department in setting religious policies and practices for inmates. In addition, he has served as past president of the Washington Chaplains Association and was a former Duvall City Councilman. Greg has been married to Rhonda for the past forty-seven years. They have three children and five grandchildren.
